Bad Company 2 PC Beta May Be Soon

PBF is reporting the following, which you should take with a very large grain of salt

Forum Planet member, jasndjkcnsadc brought to our attention that Gamestop has listed the Bad Company 2 PC beta as starting on January 28th. This is not similar situation happened with the Playstation 3 beta and it ended up being correct.

Reserve Battlefield Bad Company 2 and receive access to the PC multiplayer beta. Beta begins January 28th, 2010 and ends February 25, 2010. Available for online customers only while supplies last. Not available for in-store or in-store pickup orders.

Online Customers: A beta activation code and download instructions will be emailed beginning January 26th, 2010.

Will I pay for a beta? NO

Will I pre-order the game to try before I hit the point of no return for my money? Hmmm, usually I still wouldn't put any money forward for a beta... But my Jedi Yoda sense is tingling with this one... Maybe I will. But with the full intention of cancelling my pre-order if it turns out shambolic. I will not be a MW2 victim. I know what a beta is, I also know what can be fixed in what time frame.

Well hopefully they will be giving out pc beta codes via Twitter like they did with the PS3 beta. Or maybe when you register with Gamespot they will give you a beta code.

Gah. Hate it when developers tie the beta/demo to you having pre-ordered the game. It really defeats the purpose of a demo if you're going to get the game anyway. Hopefully there will be codes given out like with the PS3 beta and you have to stick them in FilePlanet or something. Hopefully...

Meh I desperatly tried to get those codes, but the ones on both facebook and twitter were gone within 60 seconds of them being posted, and I'm not even exaggerating.

There is still going to be a demo, this is just a thank you for pre-ordering.

I personally, will most likely be pre-ordering, but because I've played enough on the PS3, to know, it's at least a decent game. I still haven't bought MW2 (though if they bring back mods and lean I might, dedicated servers I don't think we'll see from infinity ward, however there isn't a Treyarch.net yet), and dragon rising I bought due to some really good gameplay vids, and that was the worst $40 CAD I've spent on a game.

I don't like EA downloader and would prefer a hardcopy so I hope that's not what they mean by "online customers".
