Derp de derp, there is an M249 (which unless numbers count downwards) is an upgraded M240, same thing with the AK-47 not being in the game (replaced by newer versions).

Weapon numbers don't work like that. :facepalm:

M240: 7.62mm machine gun, an 'upgrade' to the M60.
M249: 5.56mm LMG

Where does the M1 garand come into play? They dont have it listed as one of those bonus BF1943 weapons you can unlock if you preorder the limited edition.

The M249 isn't even considered an LMG. It's a SAW. Squad Automatic Weapon, meant to be a replacement for the M16A1 in an automatic rifle role. They took auto away from the M16A2, gave us burst. So the M249 came about to give squads an automatic weapon again.
The M240B is the version of the M240 that you would see someone carrying around like an old M60. It's an LMG. The M2 .50 cal, that's an HMG.

I do hate it when people type things like "derp derp" and make fun of other forum members, then proceed to be completely wrong.

My bad, I didn't know they recently redefined the term "Light Machine Gun." And no, that's not sarcasm. The M249 has always been a SAW to me, now they're calling it an LMG.

I suppose I'll need to assign an assistant gunner for my M249 now. As a SAW, one guy had the weapon and ammo. As an LMG, it would be a crew-served weapon. One guy carries the weapon and another carries the extra ammunition.

actually not a big vanilla BF2 fan ,ive always liked DC or POE style games:thumbsup:,much more for the hardcore BF vet:salute:

never liked UAV or arty in bf2 but howies in(POE) rock so frign hard:yay:

Give me POE on frostbite and id pay well for that!
