    Bash 131 is up and covers a lot of different topics from MW2 dedicated servers, Battlfield: Bad Company 2, and user questions.

    In today's show, we take a little time away from celebrating American Thanksgiving to give some thanks to our listeners. Today we invited you to be part of the show and ask questions - and you responded!

    So...in addition to my regular co-hosts, pst*joker, rudedog, garetjax, impaler and ibleedv20 we now also have *you*!

    Special guest on the cast is Reaver from the Teknogods.com site to discuss his groups’ efforts to make true MW2 dedicated servers. <!--more-->

    Reaver talks to us about his MW2 Co-op loader and hints at what his colleague Smurfette, who’s leading the charge on the dedi-server reverse-engineering program, might be planning for us this coming Monday.

    Smurfette has a handy FAQ on Teknogods that tries to answer most people's questions regarding their effort to create "true" dedicated MW2 servers. The full list is available on their site here.

    I've decided to make a quick Q&A post. I'll answer the most common questions first... but with time, more qa's will get added. You can post your questions here, please note though, I'm going to remove your posts after answering them.

    Q: When is the release date?
    A: We don't know. Expect another update on Monday (2009-11-30).

    Q: Why it's taking so long? It's a simple fix!
    A: It's not. It's taking so long because a lot of code is wrapped around Steam. ...Also, I'm trying to make it as generic as possible, so it works on future updates.

    Q: Latest patch removed the console! It's encrypted/etc!
    A: Latest patch files do not have console at all. It's not encrypted or moved to some .dll file. However, our loader has its own capability of executing console command functions. I will try to create a custom console window.

    Q: Will you make dedicated servers where people can join a server that has admin and all that kind of stuff?
    A: We do not know. It can be lobby based or old-school, where people join already existing game.

    Q: Will the Steam be required?
    A: At this time we haven't decided yet. Making it Steam-less is totally doable. Again, we do not want to help piracy in any way, so it's a hard decision. One thing is certain, it works only on original executables, if a crack will be detected, the loader will refuse to work (due to some lame patches those groups have made which prevent a proper connection).

    Q: I only have a LAN connection, will this work?
    A: Like the answer above suggests, we don't know yet. Most likely: Yes.

    Q: You're breaking the holy DMCA!
    A: Well, first of all, we're not in USA to care about DMCA. We're Europe-based so EU-CD applies to us. Second, we're still not breaking either of those. Why? There are several reasons: 1) We're not releasing any copyrighted material. 2) We do not break any copy protection (to get the game you need to pay for it over steam, and thats the "copy" protection). 3) Our releases are programmed in 100% by us. 4) Code injection is legal, for example, most (if not all) Anti-Virus applications do that.

    In addition to talking about dedi’s, we also talk a little bit about the efforts to incorporate some of the good points of MW2 into CoD4 and CoD:WW. Find out what Joker and his crew at mycallofduty.com are up to.

    Other folks are also upgrading CoD4 with some of MW2's gameplay (the better bits of it at least). Many people are starting off with "X4", the mycallofduty.com CoD4 mod which has many elements of MW2 (or should I say, the other way-round). X4 not only has the AC130, spawn protection, sticky nades and the throwing knife, it also comes with the tactical nuke.

    Here's one group's efforts in this regard. It's from skclan and it captures the essence of one of MW2's more intense maps: Highrise.

    We also touch on CoD:WW’s v1.7 patch, the delay in the BFBC2 PC beta, the fact that CoD has sold over $3B worth of video games in franchise history and the upcoming Galactic Warfare mod for CoD4.

    A lot of things going on. What do you all think about the progress of dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2? How about the mods being made for CoD:4 to bring MW2 type maps to it? What other things did you like/dislike in the webcast? 2,500 cheaters banned on Steam, thoughts on that?

    If I had the chance I would shake each an every one of their hands and thank them for doing this plus ask them if they enjoy giving 2 big middle fingers to IW
