Boycott on Modern Warfare 2 Not Looking Good

Found this picture on Kotaku.com and is starting to spread:

    <a href="http://images.totalgamingnetwork.com/images/boycottmw2.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalgamingnetwork.com/images/thumb_boycottmw2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>

A picture is worth a thousand words. I am sure we all have a few to share about this!

I also would like to take a moment and commend everyone that is still truly boycotting the game. Every time I hear of boycotts on a game I am always very skeptical that it will work due to the willpower of some.

This is the biggest anticipated game probably in history and the sales records prove it, so can you blame the boycotters for getting the game and playing? When it comes down to it, their hearts and love are for the games, good or bad.

Heh, saw that image being poster around earlier, dont blame them really, its only a game after all + you mares well make as much noise and try to get as much attention towards the issue of dedi servers before it launches than sit back and do nothing.

You should make it bigger, so you can clearly read the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2"

            Also; POTD please!

Well, the thing is that these people you've shown may have joined the boycott to support a particular aspect of it, not the actual boycott of the game. I joined a petition for dedicated servers and I wasn't planning on getting the game, so maybe others chose to join the boycott group because they felt that greater numbers could convince IW more quickly, about the dedicated servers issue, but still wanted to play the SP or something. It just kind of depends on the people involved in the photograph.

A boycott is a boycott. You dont boycott a piece of it. These people didn't give IW $30 for SP only.

                  Thats just my opinion.

That's a reasonable outlook on boycotts. I'm just saying it's sort of a compromise between showing IW people care about the quality of multiplayer and either the people having no self-control or doing what I said in my first post. If I were going to buy it, but still wanted dedis, I would probably have joined the boycotts/petitions anyway, or just the petitions so I wouldn't be a hypocrite.

                          I don't think you understand a boycott.

The point of a boycott is to starve the company of just enough funds to remove a profit. This gets people talking in the board room and heads start to roll.

You don't starve a company of funds by buying their product!

The reality though? The real stinging reality? Totally boycotting a product when you are the minority profit center does nothing but alienate the demographic. The Montgomery bus boycott (wiki it if you like history) worked because blacks were the majority of customers for the bus system. They stopped riding and the transit system went into deficit.

A boycott of the 360 version would get their attention and make them do your bidding. PC sales? Who at Activision is even counting?

But I am boycotting the game. If they are going to treat us like this, they can leave the PC market to the big boys. If you want IW to continue making PC games, you should advocate that everyone buy 2 copies just to jolt their market share numbers and get their attention. We're a drop in the bucket for them now and for the foreseeable future.

Thank your graphics card manufacturer for the death of PC gaming :)

Sigh. I never even signed a petition or joined a boycott group, and I haven't bought the game.
