    Steam Release Date Changes

This article from kotaku is some good news for some:

PC gamers choosing to get their Modern Warfare 2 fix through Steam were expecting to have to wait until November the 12th to fight the global virtual war on terror. As of right now, they'll wait a little less.

While the Steam release of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is bizarrely being held back -the PC version shipped today via traditional retail means - it appears it will now be unlocked tomorrow, November 11th at 9 PM PST. Oddly, the game was momentarily pushed back until November 13th earlier today, which we're guessing was some sort of temporary scheduling snafu.

We've reached out to Activision and Valve reps about the delayed release and the new less-delayed release, but haven't received comment back.

Cross your fingers, PC gaming community. The digitally distributed version will be Oscar Mike soon.

Anyone ever found out why it was delayed on Steam? Any rumors or guesses?

I bought the retail version. Do I have to have a steam account to play online?

You need to steam to 'activate' and install the game, and you'll need to have steam on whenever you want to play.

But don't worry, you can still play "Offline" (when you have no internet access, you won't be able to connect to Steam) - it'll still let you play... since it's in the common folder for Steam...

                  Official word: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1020656

Activision's policy is for the digital download version of MW2 to be activated 48 hours after the retail release. Therefore copies bought on Steam will be activated as follows:

Worldwide (except North, Central, and South America): 3:00 pm PST Nov 11
North, Central and South America: 9:00 pm PST Nov 11

Additional information can be found on the following page:

Good move by steam, should lower some tempers.
