Left 4 Dead 2 Not Coming to PS3 Because of Sub-par Multiplayer Community

In an interview with CVG, Chet Faliszek, Left 4 Dead project lead, mentioned that the reason Left 4 Dead 2 wasn't coming to the Playstation 3 was that the Playstation 3's multiplayer community just wasn't as good as what the Xbox 360 and PC offered.

"Right now for Left 4 Dead 2 we're looking at PC and 360 because the community aspects really fit the game - it's all about playing with your friends," he said.

"But that's the short term. What we're looking at for the long term... if it works out, it works out. Right now don't not buy it on the 360 because you think it's coming out on the PS3 - it's not going to. Right? It's coming out on the PC and 360. It's going to be exclusive for that."

Easy explanation: Valve are primarily a PC company, but it's very easy to port to 360 and it's great profit. They'd have to hire a whole bunch of new PS3 coders just to sell fewer copies than either 360 and PC.

This attitude is one of the reasons there is less online players for the PS3. When games like this, MW2, and others use the same excuse to not go to the PS3 it makes an impact on not only online players but also console sales as well. What exactly does Valve expect to see people online playing for the PS3? Little Big planet?

Dont get me wrong here as I am a PC gamer for the FPS games all the way. Just pointing out that these companies all saying the same thing about the PS3 are making a self fullfilling prophecy.

PC and PS3 need to band together and turn this around.

Microsoft is GREAT! ALL HAIL MICROSOFT AND THE 360!



It is a shame the PS3 seems very hard to code for.

I'm going to jump on the hate train and back Valve up. Maybe the PS3 is hard to code for, but that only exacerbates the issue of its playerbase not being able to support a serious FPS. The 360 community (complete with whiny 11 year olds) has been conditioned from the time of Halo 1 to like FPS's.

PS3 IS, stupidly hard to code for. The architecture is way different than anything else, and we literally had to start from scratch. Its kind of like looking at a puzzle box, you know what you want to make, but You have no idea what the pieces look like or how they fit together.

The PS network is also a total nightmare for online QA testing. So Im really not surprised. PS Network simply is not as good as xbox live, thats from a technical standpoint.
