Left 4 Dead 2 Demo Now Available for All Steam Users

While the demo for Left 4 Dead 2 has been previously available for those who pre-ordered the game for a few days now, the demo has now been released for all Steam users to enjoy.

Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the availability of the Left 4 Dead 2 demo to all PC gamers and all Xbox LIVE Gold Members.

The Left 4 Dead 2 demo features gameplay taken from "The Parish" campaign, set in the New Orleans French Quarter. Playable by 1 to 4 players over local or Internet connections on both the Xbox 360 and PC (with two-player split screen available on the Xbox 360), the demo features all the new boss infected zombies and many of the new melee weapons included in the full product.

Coming exclusively to Xbox 360 and PC, L4D2 promises to set a new benchmark for co-operative action games and become one of 2009's marquee titles. Set for release on November 17, the title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaws, frying pans, axes, baseball bats, and more.

With the AI Director 2.0, L4D's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.

Adding new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original, featuring more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, new Survival maps, and the new competitive game mode, Scavenge, all available at launch.

Gave it a quick going through. Feels like zombies get in your face a lot more. I'm throwing them away a ton more than I did in 1.

Heres the breakdown:

The feel of the game to me is more brighter, it doesnt have the eery depth that L4D one has, There are tons more zombies to kill, but somehow i just dont feel it, i dont feel the urge to take care of them, shooting them is almost cartoony in L4D2.

The New infected, yeah not going to argue it adds more to the game and they appear more smoothly in L4D2, which can be seen as two things, number one i came across a tank and didnt even know it was there, it made no noise what so ever like the tank on L4D one, i ended up being smashed across the car park, the no eery factor here, hearing the tank in L4D 1 was a peek moment in the game. The otherside to it is, its different, it isnt L4D one, it does have radical changes. One thing i'm not pleased about though, and i commented on this earlier, im not at all impressed by the new graphics, the effects the hunter has when jumping are aweful, and the infected look like cartoons.
Infected Abilities: The newly added, too weak for my liking, i thought the charger would be like the tank and take more than two shots to go down, but nope, its like a boomer and fails.

So other biggys, New weapons, yeah very happy with the wide variety, i loved running around with a guitar swinging it at zombies, was classic, never done that before, new boomer bile pots to throw, can throw it on the tank and the infected attack it, that was a sweet change, but with the good comes the bad, poor poor quality, the sounds are aweful (guns this is, melee weapons are okay) the recoil is unrealistic, you shoot a desert eagle you bounce around, you shoot a shotgun and barely move, not good, the grpahics on them again is not the best, the guns dont shoot smoothly either, other than that, they are bareable.

One of the main things i like about L4D is the script, the characters lines, L4D 2 doesnt dissapoint, i love the characters already, well...i love them all apart from the woman who clearly needs a woopin, my favourite is the gambler, or better known as Nick, sounds cool, and is cool, coach very closely followed, but im sorry, Big Bill still takes my heart, then comes Francis, then Zoey, finally followed by Louis, that means, none of L4D 2's characters could put a spot on our original foursome.

So conclusion, im not going to say, "meh not going to buy it" or "damn def buying this", its a 50/50 step, i want to try the full deal, but im not prepared for full retail price as i personally feel, its not full retail standard, now take the game Killing Floor, top game i love it, Hard Difficulty, i still haven't survived the full 10 rounds of flesh eating hordes, its not a full retail game standard, and they knew it, so it was at the low low price of £14 for me, best £14 ive spent in a long time, L4D 2, i wont be paying £30 like i did the first one, its not worth it, its not full retail standard, its an expansion pack retail price if that.

So over all, L4D 2, gets No more than 3 of my Go Happy Stars, and thats being generous because of L4D Ones quality.
