And you don't have to buy the game either if you don't like it. Why are you so intent on wanting MW2 to be competitive? 8 days until release, complaining isn't going to change a thing about the core gameplay.
I'd gladly pub if my opponents killed me with a gun, not because I killed them and they had a perk do the work for them - the same goes for Call of Duty 4.
Martyrdom is a death streak now, and it's rather avoidable if you're not playing on cluster**** 48 player small map servers.
There's a big difference between a game being competition (aka mod) friendly and no dedicated servers, capped FPS, etc. Frankly, all we even asked for was a modded CoD4, with new weapons and maps - not the lack of support and reduction of features and customization.
Exactly. No dedicated servers, no mods, how can you have good competition in a game like this? It's hopeless.
Oh, and yes, stuns already broke the game, 2x only makes it worse
Again, you assume it's going to be exactly like CoD4.

I doubt that competitive players like Defekt even go near a 48 player server. Mortydom is a retarded way to die and completely avoidable, but the fact is that it doesn't take much skill to load up a pub HQ round run into the CP and expect to die killing 3 people with mortydoom. What kills games like this are the silly kill streak rewards, and perks nobody needs them. It's already easy to find enemies by looking at the minimap that spawns a big orange dot when someone shoots. All we asked for is make your damn game for everyone, and leave us the competitive mods so we can design it for people that want to compete. Casual crowd would be happy with their noobtoob mortydoom last stand jugernaut camping fests, and we would play on pam and promod servers. Everyone would be happy and I would even pay those $60 for the game. I really don't understand IW they turned something that would sell well into something that is beryl attractive to anyone. What happens now with CEVO, XPL and other competitive leagues? We stay with COD4 until there is still interest in the game?

The game has one Bolt Action sniper... that fires some hybrid bullet that can go over 2 miles and hit a target (.456 I want to say...?). If you probably took the length of every MP map in CoD4 you wouldn't even get two miles.

But besides that point, what we're saying is.

There will be NO competitive play for MW2.

Which is obviously going to piss off a lot of people, me included.

What do the real life specs of it have to do with anything? It doesn't mean it has to be that powerful ingame.

There will be NO competitive play for MW2.
Exactly. That fact has been pretty clear. There won't be dedicated servers and modding will be impossible. So why complain about the competitive side now? Why are people so intent on wanting MW2 to be competitive when it clearly won't? CoD4 is still there, and no one's making you buy MW2.

The reason for the boycotts and petitions and complaints is because people have niches in a game or series and the tend to love the series enough in that niche they have made for themselves that they are willing to stand up and at least voice their opinion on it, hoping that maybe, with some small hope, that they will be heard and the minds of the developers will change and then their game that they grew up with and learned about will still be there for them one more time.

Its easy to say, "Whats the point, whats done is done." Everyone does that and thats why the world is the way it is today. A game for some is a way to get away from that, yet once again politics, or greed, or power gets involved, for whatever reason.

People vent to try to be heard. If they are not being heard by the group causing the problem, they will vent to their peers and friends in hopes that they will listen and understand.

I have no problem with people complaining about the lack of competitive play. It's a valid complaint and one I agree with.

What I am tired of is people complaining about the "uncompetitive" gameplay of a game that they will not even have the chance to play competitively. Why complain about 2x stun or no bolt-actions if there won't be competitive play anyways? The best thing to do now would be to just not get the game.

I agree, but that doesnt mean they dont want to voice their opinion. It would be different if IW annnounced all these changes up front and said thats how its going to be this time. Instead they waited until 3 or so weeks until release and as a by-the-way statement.

Up until 3 weeks ago this game WAS able to be competitive.

And yes, I know, now its not.

Because the game is so damn easy, that's why. I won't play it, and that's fine with me, but what's the point in playing a game that offers no challenge? Maybe it's just my competitive background that makes me want a challenge, but for all my life I've always sought challenges, and I mistakenly thought others would receive more gratification from that than an easy game.

And why do we complain? So we don't receive an awful game! Basically what you're saying is: it sucks, it won't change, so why complain? We complain because we want to buy the game, but we want a quality game! If nobody ever stood up to these types of things the world would be (well, is) filled with complacent, rather than happy, people.

Look, if you have fun with it, that's all that matters. I'm just voicing my counterpoint that I feel games should be difficult and offer a challenge, and that I feel MW2 is, in that aspect, moving in the completely wrong direction.

And I have nothing against that. My last few posts are in the context of being within 2 weeks of the release date.

I guess I've gotten a mix of cynicism and apathy over MW2 now. It's a week until the release, and unless IW does a complete 180 and patches in dedicated server support, I just can't see the gameplay as being something even worth complaining about.
