Im sorry, I have been around this place since 2005 and I have witnessed first hand the contradictions between what you do and what you say. I´ll remain sceptical about your statement until you prove otherwise. Right now, capitalizing off what is probably a publisher shoving decisions down developers throat is unfit for a company who was unable to deliver a patch for 1.5 years (great timing, though), while still not fixing one of the most crucial aspects of the game.

What amuses me is the old truth of the interweb land. Even if a developer screws up beyond anyones imagination, if theres a glimmer of hope given by the PR, the forums will flood with support and optimism. Never seizes to amaze me.

haha yeah i notice that. there has been nothing produced yet, just words and promises and the whole world rejoices.

they're still on my bad side until they release that elusive 1-yr-in-development BF2142 1.51 patch.

i guess if they mean they shafted us on 2142, at least they're being honest. i never seen a patch take this long, nearly 1 year after they announced it and showed us screenshots.

I do like DICE, in general, but I do agree with you too. They are largely capitalizing on the hate of IW in the PC community right now. If no one was upset about COD:MW2, this wouldn't matter to hardly anyone.

It's not DICE's fault that BF2 is in the condition it is now, full of bugs. It was DICE Canada, those damn idiots. Luckily they dont exist anymore so I have hope.

DICE Canada hasnt existen in a long time and were not talking about two completely different firms with subcontracts. Its still DICE.

The reasonable folks will just wait and see and take this IW bashing as a PR trick, nothing more.

Exactly, you cant blame then from wanting to make the most out of this! While DICE support over the years has not always been the best.... at least they did finish stuff like 1.5 in the end, even if it did not fix everything, they could have just left it.

. Well hell, I think we'd be forgiven for our optimism with statements like that. It certainly does inspire a lot of hope, which is much more than can be said for IW - who seem completely oblivious to their communties plight.

Waiting for DICE to follow through on their word is fair enough.

Having not played the game, we're obviously in no position to dispute how proning affects pacing and sighting.

I can comment from previous Battlefield PC experience and would prefer proning. Mainly because it adds another layer of tactics to infantry combat. This was a crucial feature in all previous Battlefield games - it's not as if players have never used it. On the contrary, join any game and most players use it to some extent. From diving behind low cover, to hitting the floor to reduce your silhouette when no cover is in sight, and sneaking, to improving your aim/control when defending a flag from a static position, to flanking camping proners, to proning just to gather your wits, to proning while repairing/healing/rearming/reviving/planting explosives etc. Gameplay isn't just about continuous mobility (which can be really monotonous) but a combination of stances.

Dude really!?! You need to inform/advertise you're going to have dedicated servers? That's like advertising air or gravity. There's a reason some of us are PC elitists, maybe we grew up on the sophistication, control and gameplay of PC games. It's not a hard formula to maintain you just don't dumb the game down like console versions. For instance, 3 classes for 1943!?! Oh i'm out of ammo I'll just hide until it magically replenishes. Oh I'm hurt I'll camp here and my wounds will mend in seconds. Hard to believe support and medics were that complicated to some players but then again they weren't really team players to begin with.

Yes I said that already in my post... it's not DICE, a completely different group of people from the other side of the world. They also ruined the sounds both in 1942 and BF2.

Again. They havent existed for a *long* time. So putting the blame on them is wrong. Its still the exact same company, it would have been simple for them to take the patching over after the first patch. And didnt DICE Canada create Special Forces?

They also ruined the sounds both in 1942 and BF2.
I dont know for 1942, but BF2 sounds have always been fine. The change in the LAV-25 sound was just that, a change. I like the original more but the new one isnt bad, it isnt worse.

In short, dont try to masquerade DICEs screwups with the decisions theyve actually made themselves. Especially considering the 2 years timegap of nonactivity after theyve sacked DICE Canada.

IIRC, they weren't sacked, more the studio was closed down and projects moved back to Sweden and staff offered positions there?
