Bad Company 2 Developer hints at Dedicated Servers (Updated)

In what could be seen as a cheeky poke at Infinity Ward, DICE developer KM Troedsson has hinted pretty heavily that Bad Company 2 will feature dedicated servers. Here is what he said via Twitter:

Dedicated servers FTW. What ever secures a better online experience is a given for us.

Update from EAUK forums:We feel it's important to support the unique community needs of the PC community. Dedicated servers are a big part of this, and we recognize that requirement. We're putting a server browser and matchmaking in 1943 PC and the same features are intended for BFBC2. We're working hard on the PC version with a dedicated team building and molding the game so it is not a console port. This team is lead by DICE developers responsible for Battlefield 2. Very experienced and hardcore PC gamers.

Of course DICE will have Dedi servers in BFBC2 they are the smart dev team unlike Infinity Ward.

I have had my critism of DICE over the past few years, but since patch 1.5 for bf2, they seem to be getting almost everything right, and I love the little swipe at IW

If modtools, or at least the Map Tools be announced to be available and that will be possible to play with custom maps on servers (even if it is ranked); I guarantee that game could be my next one.

Better hold them to this. IW said they were working on dedicated servers too in one of their interviews with PST Joker, but wasnt sure if they would be ready in time.

would be neet but i think they have their hands full getting 1943, bad company 2, bf3 to the pc. probably wont see them porting/making bad company 1 for the pc

Well that's not going to happen, modding and mapping is pretty much out of the question.

If they give us dedicated servers with a functional server browser then it's more than what others are offering.
