Valve Has Edited Version of Left 4 Dead 2 For Possible Release

Since Valve's Left 4 Dead 2 was refused classification by the Australian Classification Board Gabe Newell has said that the Australia-only version will be "fully compliant with the guidelines" for a 15-years-old and up rating.
"We think Left 4 Dead 2 is a lot of fun," said Newell. "It's a game for adults. But we're aware that different countries have different restrictions, and we want to make the choices that make the game the most fun for that country."

"Our goal is not to ship this second version," said Newell. The goal, of course, is to get get the original version through the Board via the appeal process. If that fails, then the edited version is the back-up plan.

Keep an eye out here for any updates on Valve's battle with Australian Classification Board.

How do you edit zombie killing? One of the biggest draws of L4D is its unadulterated "kill everything you see" mentality. The only reason I am even remotely considering buying l4d2 is the prospect of beating zombies with a frying pan or fire axe...

Maybe they just deflate like blowup dolls.
You know, instead of bloody chunks of viscera flying every which way as you chop/blow them to bits. Well, I guess technically it would be offal or just dead **** since it's outside the body by the time it flies across the parking lot.

I think it will just be Left 4 dead one with the new guns minus the Melee weapons. L4d wasnt refused classification and the OFLC cited the "realistic" melee weapons as one of the reasons for the classification refusal. So I might as well buy L4d if its still refused.
