    Ubisoft acquires Nadeo (Trackmania developer)

Ubisoft has bought out Trackmania developer, Nadeo. Here is what Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot had to say:
The acquisition of Nadeo is an important step in our expansion within the on-line gaming sector. Through Nadeo, Ubisoft will gain an expert team, one of the best on-line technologies around as well as a flagship multiplayer game that enjoys an unrivalled reputation among a loyal and committed community.

We are excited about the idea of introducing TrackMania to an ever-wider audience and sharing the expertise of Nadeo's teams with our Group's other developers

Nadeo CEO Florent Castelnérac had this to say:
Joining Ubisoft is a huge opportunity for us to develop and innovate and take Nadeo to new horizons. Nadeo’s team was keen for this acquisition to happen. Like players in a community, we see ourselves as being a complementary fit with Ubisoft and believe that we can share and quickly move ahead together.

So basically we can expect Trackmania to be released on console at some point.

The DS version has been released and the Wii version has been in construction for a while now.

I'll wait and see for further news - this could potetially give Nadeo the tools to make even bigger and better games (if that would be possible!), but it could also go the other way and they are restricted by what Ubisoft tells them to do.

Don't mind them bringing Trackmania and other Nadeo titles to consoles either as long as they don't suffer on the PC... Trackmania is a perfect example of how custom content can keep a game going forever.

Whoa, that's a bit of a shock now.

I wonder, will it still be free?
