Modern Warfare 2: IW "haven't begun thinking about" DLC

In response to the masses, IW has come out with this information found at CVG:

Infinity Ward has responded to yesterday's energy drink promotion giving away codes for a Modern Warfare 2 map pack said to be due in "spring 2010". <!--more-->

Fans expectedly jumped to conclusions over the drink promotion, and started complaining that any maps ready by the game's November 10 release should be included on the disc - not held for DLC.

An Infinity Ward spokesperson cleared up the confusion: "I think you might be confused by that. We haven't even begun thinking about what our DLC will be, let alone finish any.

"NO DLC will begin development until the entire game is finished and certified," the developer said.

Infinity Ward revealed earlier this year that it plans to release at least two Modern Warfare 2 map packs, with first access given to owners of the Xbox 360 version of the game.

Some comments have been stirred up on the internet as well as when we posted about this here. So does this change anyones opinions or ideas on the DLC or is this a coverup and some backtracking going on?

Thats true. We don't know how big the staff at IW is or if they hand off DLC to other people.

Its getting close to release. What work they can do will need to be finished up for the game to go to the printers.

Its finished but they are just planning ahead to make more money.

I will never buy a DLC for a shooter on the PC. That being said I hope they do not make the PC updates a DLC.

They just give the developer more ways to nickel and dim the consumer for minimal effort on their part (If the DLCS only include a few maps and weapons.)

I believe they could have developed some stuff early enough. While some may get mad, who would blame them? Look at how much money Treyarch has made from DLC for CoD:WaW. They're staff is not ginormous, but they have enough people that they could be working on it now. Not every person has to be working on the same thing as the same time. Once people are done with the portion of the game they're working on, they could already be moving towards the DLC, OR, at least someone is most likely planning out WHAT the DLC will be as that is just proper planning.

But they've already said that they will make the DLC available for Xbox 360, I don't want to sound like a PC fanboy here but why can't they go back to releasing DLC's for all platforms at the same time? Treyarch started these shinanagans when they started releasing their DLCs for console first and then for PC over a month later. I know they were having some sponsorship issues but c'mon, it's really not fair they release DLC to one platform before another.
