If you didn't get your hands on a key to any of the multiplayer beta waves for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and have been dying to swing from a lightpole and frag your friends, today is the day you've been waiting for.
Weighing in at under 1.3 GB, the multiplayer player demo has arrived on the PlayStation Network and is available to all PS3 owners.
Naughty Dog has been gracious enough to include 4 different maps (not just 2 like the beta offered), four competitive modes, and 2 co-operative modes.
And then the announcer says, "But, wait! There's more!" Also included in the demo is a Cinema mode allowing your to share your multiplayer adventures with friends and watch theirs. I can imagine some pretty cool contests will flourish from this addition, even before the game releases on October 13th. But to top it off and give you even more to do during the 2 weeks before the launch, Naughty Dog is including Stage mode in the demo. Stage mode is pretty much a Machinima tool for Uncharted where you can use the character and object assets of the game to create your own videos. Again, more contests ideals come to mind.
Arne Meyer, Senior Manager of Marketing Communications for Naughty Dog, posted a blog entry on PlayStation Blog earlier today about the demo release:
...throwing in Cinema, the Machinima mode and the special Stage map was one of the things were most looking forward to putting in your hands. UNCHARTED 2 automatically records the gameplay data for your competitive multiplayer matches in any map and gametype. You can then head into Cinema to watch your recorded matches and that’s where the good stuff is – from watching your own replays, taking your own screenshots, making your own videos or even using the Machinima game mode and Stage map to create your own videos.
