Modern Warfare 2 Pre-release Demo Doubtful

Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward employee and MW2 developer has told fans via Twitter not to expect a demo prior to the release of the next Call of Duty.

According to Bowling, a demo had not been planned by IW for download prior to the games release. Apparently the team was busy trying to polish the game and meet their original release date of 10/10/2009

Although, if you are reading this page, chances are you're a CoD fan and will most likely snatch up the new title as soon as it hits the shelves!

I am a CoD fan, a huge fan. Played 1,2,4, and 5. If there is no demo, I will NOT be getting this game upon release.

Consolers probably have nothing to worry about, but for the PC, with the rumors of the dedicated server files in question along with no confirmation of broswer features, I think thats a concern.

There are very few games I will buy without a demo and CoD is not one of them. I am no game developer by any means, but is it really that hard to take a section of the game out and make it a demo? If it is, I understand and perhaps that is a good reason not to have one.

The other thing that concerns me is how they want to polish this game to a fine shine, yet no beta. Looking at the footage, theyve had a lot of alpha testers, but its amazing what the community finds. We always seem to know where to look for the exploits, bugs, and problems.

Anyway, 402 stated this all before and he is just reaffirming the stance.

I would rather have a demo or Beta before I get the game an they dont want to make one cause they want to polish the game? SPIT SHINE THE BLOODY THING WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!!

I will be buying the game on release simply because I know it's a do-or-die for the competitive community. If this game doesn't take off, competition in CoD is dead - period.

If, however, it does - I want to experience the maps and guns and master them before the majority of players (same with my team) so that we have the best possible shot in CoD:MW2 competition.

There's no need for a demo really.

Thats what a lot of BF2 fans said when they RAN to 2142 and then they RAN back. Now when you read the forums its "Remember 2142" and "I hope its not futuristic like 2142", which I loved BTW, better than BF2. Yeah, I said it.

I can't afford a gamble right now. If others want to "leap of faith" any game, thats up to them. FFOW was going to be awesome. Wolfenstein was going to be awesome. Batman was going to be awesome. I own one of the three games because of the demo. Guess which one.

Difference is, BF2 and BF2142 were essentially different games, because we all knew going in that BF2142 was going to be furturistic.

We all know that CoD4 > CoD:MW2, is basically going to be the same game, with some new features.

I don't really see the gamble in going to a game that we for the most part know what its going to be.

They pumped up CoD4 saying it was going to be awesome, it turned out awesome. They're now pumping up MW2, I'll put money on it being awesome.

When I played in a league they ran, I think, promod. It took away sway and recoil and even disabled some weapons and perks and killstreaks.

So if you bought it, would it still really help you?

No, thats all true and very valid. Most people will disagree with my thinking on this. It is just my opinion also.

Although a lot of the weapon characteristics and gameplay mechanics are changed, the maps really aren't - so getting to understand the ins and outs of the map help you tremendously in competitive play.
