the clan im in has 20+ servers for different games. i know they're going to rent a server for MW2.

when they say may not be dedicated servers on day 1, does that mean, just their servers they host for people or does it mean the dedicated source code wont be done so people that are in clans can't rent a MW2 server?

also would like to say that, Melee rang increase is by far the ****tiest move they can make (besides the delaying of the pc version)

Somewhat that latter part. Clans have dedicated servers. The other types of servers are the kinds hosted by the game companies, like how some console MP servers are set up or obviously World of Warcraft. The other type is what used to be a multiplayer way back in the day, or what you can still technically do which is a listen server. That is where for example, I host a server on my own computer and you join. CoD:WaW's zombie mode is played via listen servers. Obviously, if clans and others can't put up dedicated servers (servers that are up 24/7) then the game will not have a flipping chance for mp.

Haven't we had dedicated servers for MP FPS since the 90's or so? What made them think they could just piss on it this time around?

Wow. I'm really amazed about no dedicated server support at launch. That is pretty crappy.
