MW2 - New MW2 Details Via the Community Event

That's right, already some info about MW2's multiplayer is being released via the mp community/reveal event. This list is not exactly pleasing to those of us wanting for a more vanilla MW2 as this list just proves that IW may have gone a bit too far over the top with some of their ideas for this game. Read below:
    1. New feature.... Deathstreaks. Once you die a few times, a perk kicks in. "Copycat", for example, lets you steal an opponent's class setup once they've killed you four times.

    2. Can't shoot while using riot shield, plus it's slow to swap. But it stops bullets for you.

    3. New perk... commando = increased melee range

    4. Shotguns can have silencers!

And Rudedog of FPSadmin has been live twittering the event.

    Some of his comments include
    :
    - "No PC or console beta or demo." Public, that is.
    - "They are working on the mod tools and ded server for PC, but it's not looking good for release."
    - "Deployable turrets like TS2."
    - "They have 2 finish up console B4 they really get going on PC."

Not sure exactly how well this list is going to work...hopefully, the community guys speak up a bit while they are there. So a perk once again that benefits people who die, the riot shield idea works for me, I hope that when they say increased melee range, they are referring to a bigger range compared to CoD:WaW, not compared to the already lunging CoD4 melee...which I know they are referring to, and wow, shotguns with suppressors...

    GG

Thanks to Garandx for the first four new points of MW2 mp news!

Re: MW2 - New MW2 Details Via the Community Event

Im fully expecting the Pc version to be delayed after reading rudedogs comments... Effing amazing that they cant get it together.

PC GETS ABOUT 1 MONTH DEV TIME......... WTF........

    rudedogs full post

Below is information from a very quick interview with Infinity Ward's Jason West. It should be noted that this was a 100% console only event, and Jason was kind enought to sit down and talk PC shop. He and the rest of the IW staff where very busy with interviews from large media sites.

The big questions are Mod tools, dedicated server bits as well as Linux support.

    - They are all on the list however as of right now it looks like they will not be in the box or be released on day 1.

How well will IW support the PC side of the game, once released

    - They are committed to the PC side of the game and will support it as IW has supported their past titles.

    - Their co-op special forces mode will be invite only, no dedicated servers for co-op

    - They are currently looking very closely at steam for match making via online play

    - They will be using the same type of master servers as Modern Warfare. They are not using GFW

    - There will be DLC however it's up to their parent company in regards to how DLC will be distributed (paid, delayed, or sponsored) - nothing has been decieded yet but they are looking to support MW2 for a very long time via DLC

    About admin features

    - The bad news is there will be a lot of console type features, which Jason did not go into detail. There was not much in regards to dedicated server type features. He did say "some cool features" but was more or less talking about console side of the game and what they would port over to the PC

I asked the silent treatment towards the PC side of this game.

    - I was told it was because they are all hands on deck to get the console game into Microsoft Xbox 360 certification. Once that is done, they will be working on the PC side. It sounded like there was not much done as of yet.... hello the game going to be released soon.

Based on the answer I got above, I asked about the release date for the PC version.

    - I was told as of today, it's on schedule and they don't see a delay.

Will there be a console or PC demo/beta

    - No and No. Neither version will have any type of demo. Jason said, they feel their customers want them to spend all their time on the game and not distracted by a demo/beta

That's about it. I had about 5-8 minutes with Jason as he was very very busy. I also tried to make the round and talk to all the staff manning the console stations. Over and over I was told this was a console only event and they had no comment in regards to anything PC.

Really? do they enjoy screwing over PC users? First no Collector's Edition for PC now we will have to wait a bit longer for its release?

First of no one said any thing about delay for PC version. Second, why the heck do you want "Collector's Edition" any way. Game is expensive as it is. and after couple years you are not even going to remember about it. We get our stuff last, because it's harder to make PC version. Plus when DLC comes out we (PC gamers) get it for free.

That melee thing is a BS, have to agree with The_Eliminator and groundedzero, there going to be a lot of corner campers who would have nothing better to do than do just that.

There goes IW rewarding mediocrity again...

                  Officially not buying. I'm serious.

I swear if this kind of stuff would have been added to CoD2 people would have thought it was a late april's fools joke.

The more and more I think about it, the crappier and crappier MW2 looks. I mean it's like MW1 on steriods, crack and speed all at the same time...

I might need to wait it out.... And cancel my pre-order if crap like this keeps showing up.....

                    :S

I know Rudedog is always looking after the PC community and he's not afraid to go after developers. I am sad to say...he definitely did not get welcomed warmly by IW. A "console only event"...I thought this was a "Multiplayer Reveal Event", but apparently, we do not count. It does sound like the PC is somewhat being put to the backseat of this car...if we're even in the car still. :|:

I guess we'll see, but as of now, Treyarch's PC support is looking even better than I originally gave it credit. Think of the server side options available in CoD:WaW, will we get that in CoD:MW2?

And not having dedicated servers on release is a MUCH bigger problem than people realize, especially not even getting them to us on day 1. May I remind you of a game called MoH: Airborne where Rudedog asked them about dedicated servers and they weren't ready to have them on day 1 either...

+rep to those posting the extra news, thank you for your help.

I'm kinda lost of the dedicated servers on day one thing.
the clan im in has 20+ servers for different games. i know they're going to rent a server for MW2.

when they say may not be dedicated servers on day 1, does that mean, just their servers they host for people or does it mean the dedicated source code wont be done so people that are in clans can't rent a MW2 server?

also would like to say that, Melee rang increase is by far the ****tiest move they can make (besides the delaying of the pc version)
