Even a bad session in PR is better than the best in vanilla/other mods. This is not due to the superior facility the devs have provided, but due to the general attitude of PR-Players.

^ Ha, yeah right. Seems like the only people playing PR are realism obsessed, military fanatics with no lives who get pissed off when something "Isn't how it's supposed to be".

ahhh, is Chewie still upset about getting banned off a PR server? Surprised you haven't started hating BF2 from being banned off a BF2 server "for no good reason".

Well that ended today while I was playing on Wake Island. I had spawned and gone to wait for a jet after the first two were taken, the first guy to take off was killed and I waited for the jet to spawn. As I waited, the first guy to fly who died came and TK'ed me with a car and then took the just spawned jet. When I attempted to alert the admins via chat (like everybody else does), I was banned for making false TK claims.

AIX still wins in my book.
I had to read the manual a couple of times before I figured out how the game mechanics worked, and then of course there are the unwritten rules that you must follow some are common sense like don't take a vehicle and go off solo.

Some things you just have to experience before you learn your lesson, like placing mines without properly marking your mines for friendly players. or discovering just how deadly IED's are and not to set them off near weapon cashes.

In the past week, 13,217 unique players have played PR, playing an average of 2.6 hours each. I hardly call that "no one" tbh.

No, it is not the most played mod out there. And those are total access ip to the mod not players.

I've been on hold for that patch for 2 years, for certainly I'll be for certainly playing when the vanilla servers found fill with players in the new patch. PR Devs should had been working on that betas to make a simultaneous patch release in September 1st.

Re: Project Reality and the 1.50 Patch

I think I few people who had bad experiences with PR have to remember that strangely there are quit a few who play PR that are actually in the military; like US, british, canada, austrailia, germany.

Because PR is made for Realism it can be quite different from vanilla bf2, but it can be more satisfying.

In PR I guess you could say there is soldier etiquette. Loosing a whole squad in normal BF2 is a normal occurrence and nothing too serious. To loose a whole squad, especially a rally point in PR has the potential to be profoundly bad for your team and possibly loose your chance of winning the whole round in some cases.

So there are some do's and don'ts when your a soldier in a squad :salute:
And firing at random enemys you see, giving away your squads location is one of the donts. You can not be so sure that the random enemy you see is not linked to an armored division of tanks, which have the ability zoom and look far away, easily seeing your quad in the trees or mountains at a distance of about half to almost the whole distance of kubra damn.

I play normal bf2 and bf2 Infantry Only a lot as well as AIX and Forgoten Hope, and as great as they are, PR will always be more rewarding at the end of the round.

Or it could ruin an important flank behind enemy positions which could also lead to a round loss.

Yeah, after a break I found out the hard way what Big Red was, blowing up half my team in spawn in the beginning of round.

Im not a military fanboy by any means, but there is only so much of vanilla BF2 one can take. I still play BF2 ranked now and then and really enjoy it, but not the players. Getting punished for people running over my own claymores etc is annoying.

@The people complaining about the pr community in general, load up the game and have another. If you say to the rest of your squad you are new to and not sure how stuff really works then people will help you, but it is annoying when people load up for the first time without having looked at any of the info layed out for them and do something that impedes the rest of the team in doing so.

If you join in a mumble night you can see just how fun the community can be. Something like this is what you will see most nights You can run around and talk to anybody in the server, really great stuff. One of my best times in PR was when we were pinned down at the foot of a hill, my squad leader gave an epic battle speech and somebody in the squad played a bugle horn over mumble as we charged up the hill to glory. Epic.

lol. ehhh no, these stats first of all go off the players ingame name, yes a few player might even play with two different names in a week but unlikely and if many people did it would seriously bump down the average hrs played which is pretty high at 2.6hrs.

If thous ingame stats are not enough for you, you might want to check which mod won the latest MOTY and you might also want to check how many players are currently playing PR at this very moment and compare that with other mods: http://www.game-monitor.com/search.p...ll=&showEmpty=

Currently 470 people, at 8am in the morning so most of them are Australians playing right now, check at peak time and you will most likley see over 1k players in the server

And if PR is not the most played mod currently out there, please tell me which mod is more popular as I would love to know.

ehhhh the patch has been in the making for almost a year now, not two. We have been doing lots of tests on the beat version and been getting v0.87 ready, if you look back over our old news posts etc you will find we have been planning v0.87 for quite some time now, it was in fact going to be v0.86 that was going to fix the problems with BF2 v1.5 but since it took so long and there was some small bugs we needed to fix we thought we would release 0.86 as it was ready etc, then do v0.87 later.

We plan to release v0.87 in under a week of BF2 v1.5 being released but we are simply not going to throw it out there and "hope it works" as someone like you might do. We in fact need to first do some testing, make sure nothing else has changed in it that might brake PR, which easily could. If nothing is broken and everything is working smoothly then yes, we release it a day or two after 1.5's release. If not, we have to fix these problems as fast as possible, and then put the new fixes back into testing.

We are not going to release something without full testing before hand as you only have to look at DICE's old patches to see what happens when you dont do proper testing before release

Considering that Counter Strike still a mod for original Half Life, Gmod, Day of defeat and few more from HL family. Yeah the patch is in work and beta for a year, perhaps, but has been announced or teased way back.

But, the question remains, update the game and stop playing PR for the time been or not update and wait for PR to catch up? Still I will continuous to wait for the PR update while play the new updated game. Wasn't a discussion just a point.

And yes PR is the most played mod at BF2, a quite experience. Anyone seeking more than arcade vanilla really should give a try on this mod.

You've obviously had a short and unfortunate experience and that is a pity, but what you're trying to argue is just as generalized as saying BF2 is only played by 12 year old, tk'ing smacktards.

Just like BF2 and probably any multiplayer game, there are 'undesirables' however judging the entire player base on the shortfalls of some is unfair.

I agree that some do take it too seriously, but the mod rewards those who know what they're doing and focus on their objectives. You can still play it casually to an extent, but you miss out on the advantages of coordinated squad play and can even disrupt the team.
