Project Reality and the 1.50 Patch

Since DICE has announced the release of the 1.50 patch this Tuesday, mod teams are getting ready to test their mod with the new version and release hotfixes to keep everything going smoothly. Until then, if you play a mod like Project Reality, it might be a good idea to stick with 1.41 until they can get a hotfix out for you. Here's the word from the PR mod team:
DiCE have recently announced they are planning to release the Battlefield 2 v1.5 final patch this coming Tuesday, September 1st 2009. Project Reality v0.86 at this time does NOT support the BF2 v1.5 patch. If you wish to continue playing Project Reality, do not patch your BF2 install to 1.5 when it is released. We also ask server providers not to patch their servers, as players will no longer be able to join due to the different base BF2 version.

Since the new BF2 patch is around 2GB in size (and includes Euro Forces and Armored Fury), feel free to download the BF2 v1.5 patch, but if you wish to continue to play Project Reality, do not install it yet.

The Project Reality team is hard at work on the finishing touches to our compatibility patch, PR v0.87. This will include full support for BF2 v1.5 as well as some other minor bug fixes and tweaks. The PR Team is dedicating all efforts at this moment to release v0.87 as bug free as possible and as soon as we can. When PR v0.87 is officially released, you can then install the BF2 v1.5 patch. Further instructions on how to correctly install the new patch will be available when we release PR v0.87.

Thanks for continuing to play and support the PR mod, we hope to have another media update soon with the latest progress on v0.9!

As always, you can find out more about Project Reality by visiting the mod's official website.

No one cares about PR. All it attracts are whiny, 36-year old males who get all bent out of shape over the dumbest things.

Player 1: *Randomly Pops Off a Few Rounds*

Player 2: *RAWR!!!* "YOUR GONNA GIVE AWAY OUR POSITION YOU ******* ****, I'm gonna ******* ban your ***** *** you ****** piece of ****.

Player 1: *Your Have Been Banned from the Server, Reason: Being an Asshat*

lol, your squad leader probable told you to hold fire or only return fire which is a pretty basic tactic, but I would very much doubt you would ever get banned for doing that or your SL would swear at you for shooting like that.

As for now one caring about PR, your very much mistaken there. Project Reality is the most played mod of any game currently in the world.

In the past week, 13,217 unique players have played PR, playing an average of 2.6 hours each. I hardly call that "no one" tbh.

PR is not made for everyones tastes so if you dont like its style of gameplay I suggest you play something else and dont try to say that PR is crap just because you personally dont like it, since many people out there do like it and that has been proven by its susses.

        Cheers :)

PS. Most players who Play PR are 18 and 25 yrs old as you can see in this poll here: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f11-...-you-guys.html

I've had poor experiences with PR. Specially people who take it a bit... too seriously.

But what can I say, if all the people on the forum tell me to read the manual, than help me. **** that.

AIX still wins in my book.

PR isnt for everyone and it is supposed to be taken seriously which is what makes it unique.

It's boring if you don't take it seriously. And when everything goes as it's supposed to go, then it's a much better experience than AIX or vanilla bf2.

Note, I said TOO seriously. To the extent that I am picked out, kicked, and then banned. This is happened far too many times.

I can't complain, it's intent is for it to replicate reality. So meh.

But my experiences were ****e. Sandbox and AIX win out any day on my computer.

Dunno why but either your playing on a really bad server or your doing something really ****ty to make them kick and/or ban you etc.

Here is just one recent example of one guy who has recently played PR for the first time and found many players very helpful etc and had no problems and as such enjoyed the game very much.

People tend to forget that they're playing a game whilst playing PR. Their delusions are quite alarming, it seems as if they mistake a virtual reality world for reality.

if that is the case then that is a complement since immersion is a key factor of any successful game including BF2

Don't blow your own trumpet. No-one said you did a bad job. We're talking about the people who play the game...

Technically, it's them who need to do the defending, not the modders. My hatred for the mod lies in the people who play the game, not the game itself.

You tend to forget that the point of a game is to be immersive. Just like reading a book, the more immersive it is the better it is.

maybe you shouldn't stereotype everyone who plays the game based on a few encounters you have had with a small percentage of the player base. Its the same as saying everyone how plays counter strike is a hacker. Ye counter strike has a lot of hackers who plays it, but most of the people are not hackers.
