I speak for myself on the demo. Anyone else can do what they want, but if there is no demo or public beta, I smell something fishy and will wait.

There was a beta for FFOW. I played it, and definitely knew I wouldn't be buying it.

Yep, I saw the update garandx, posting now on the main page for those who don't venture into the forums.

While we love public betas for all the obvious reasons, an internal Closed Beta allows us the extra freedom and flexibility to give the entire multiplayer a chance to be widely beta tested without requiring excess development time simply to prep the game for public release instead of an internal beta test which is ran on dev kits / test kits. That fact alone, allows us to have a smoother and faster process of iteration when addressing issues and pushing fixes out to beta participants.

This decision allows us to deliver a more polished experience, which in the end, is what we all want."

As I have said in some other posts, I dont care if there is a public beta or not, as long as there is a demo, but I just have to point out this paragraph at the end. (I will ignore the "neither confirm nor deny" statements).

Maybe someone can explain to me how a closed beta with modified kits allow for a wider test than a public beta that could have the same kit setups on thousands of machines be less so? I understand logistics and having servers and getting keys or whatever to people, but do devs have to do all that? Aren't there lackys that can do this stuff?

With fewer people, I suppose you could find and focus on specific bugs, but I
dont see how it would be more polished or thorough testing. Faster, yes. Complete, no.

Feel free to let me know what I am missing.

That is the most shocking display of attitude I have ever seen from a representative... So much ignorance is shown in that sentence on so many levels I don't know where to start, apart from advising a sacking.

          I would have suggested a de-sacking myself.
