Project Reality - Highlights Reel Roundup #1

The Project Reality mod team has been hard at work on their next release, and they've posted a collection of videos that showcase some new features. The first is a ridiculously awesome player-controlled UAV. Check it out:

Welcome to the first Project Reality Highlights Reel Round-up! The idea behind them is to show you snapshots of works in progress across the PR Team, what you can expect in future releases, and any other items we would like to show off. We hope to make these Roundup updates more regularly, so that the community get a better insider feel of the PR Team in general.

    Commander Controlled UAV

The DEV team have been hard at work creating ways to make the commander a more appealing role on the battlefield. [R-DEV]dbzao and [R-DEV]AncientMan are working on an UAV that can be controlled by the commander from within his Command Post. It works like a regular TV Guided missile from attack helicopters, however flies far slower, allowing you to view parts of the battlefield from above. The UAV will stay at a fixed height, and run for approximately 10 minutes, where you then have to wait a further 10 minutes for the UAV to refuel. The role of the UAV is a recon tool, therefore you will not be able to lase targets or fire any weapons from it.

Thats pretty sexy, I was reading a story in the Mirror about UAVs and wondered why PR didnt have them, but now they do. Yay.

Project Reality is still pretty popular. i feel like its the only mod that will survive at least another year.

People still playing BF1942 mods by the way. Also talking about PR dying is not correct. No other mods of BF2 have been so popular. I belive it will live at least next 5 years. Other mods are not doing so good though.

what about the commander on the insurgent side? cant they have like random fixed camera positions, like surveilance cameras? atleast its a way to counter this new UAV.

                  Read this: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f196...nformants.html

The Insurgent and Taliban commander is already able to place up to seven waypoints on his map, positions he thinks are important for his team. The moment six or more enemy troops pass around that location, a contact report will be sent just for the commander relaying where the enemy was last seen.
