    Darkest of Days Demo Released

As stated yesterday in a post we made, Phantom EFX and 8monkey Labs are back today to bring you the official demo for their game Darkest of Days. The demo weighs in at 741MB and can be downloaded below:

“Custer's infamous last stand at the Battle of Little Big Horn, and the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest day in American history… these are just a few of humanity’s darkest days, and you can dive into both of these in the Darkest of Days demo,” said Aaron Schurman, Chief Executive Officer at Phantom EFX. “This hour-long demo lets players experience unrivaled carnage and to experience what it’s like to use futuristic weapons in period settings and see what happens when you alter history while fighting against hundreds of enemies during some of man's greatest struggles in History!”

The demo features some serious action, throwing players into the middle of raging battles, while also giving players great hands-on time with a variety of weapons.

Be sure to give the demo a try and post up any feedback you may have on the game. After you played through the demo, let us know if you plan on buying the game or not.

It is most definitely an interesting concept for a game, although not my personal style, still interesting. Played through the demo and was enthralled in it, but at the same time - it was way to linear for me.

I won't be buying it, but I wouldn't not recommend it either.

Kind of how I felt after playing it. Much too linear and the AI seemed pretty stupid to me. I realize that's how it was back in the day where they just marched up in lines and shot at each other, but the AI didn't move or anything and just seemed really dumb to me. Also, I would get hit a bunch when leaving a battle yet when I was standing still in a battle line, I wouldn't get hit whatsoever...that's interesting to say the least.

For some reason the demo didn't run very well on my PC either. I had to turn down the graphics to low even to get it to run smoothly. Anyone else experience any graphic slowdown more than most games? I should have easily been able to run it on at least medium settings.

But like you said, an interesting concept, don't know if it was necessarily executed properly though. At least not enough from what I saw in the demo.

Same, right when you enter the battle for Antietam i started lagging for me. The AI did seem fairly stupid, but its a demo. The AI arent going to be too challengeing, its just showing you how fun it is to blast away confederates with an assault rifle

I will give it a try but after reading the comments it seems a bit upsetting.

Yes, I had to turn my graphics all the way down to medium - and for a game like this, I should be able to play everything maxed no problem.

I also noticed some glitches in the game, which is not good at all considering this is a demo and not a beta, and it is coming out in September according to steam.

If this had been a beta, I would call it a good game with lots of potential, but seeing as it is a demo and getting ready for release, I highly doubt this will get high reviews.

And as for the not getting hit in battle - I think it is part of the game, when you are leaving one of the cut scenes you hear your trainer say they will keep you alive somehow. And I noticed myself at the first engagement of union vs. confederate I was moving around as if someone was moving my body to dodge bullets. Not sure if this is a glitch, a bug, or how it is supposed to be.
