Eve of Destruction 2 Napalm Preview

I love the smell of napalm in the morning. As do the guys over at the Eve of Destruction 2 mod. They recently posted up a new preview video showing off the newly designed napalm effect featured in EOD2. Check it out:

The beginning part does not look very good but as the burning progresses it starts to look better IMO.

The video doesn't really capture the moment as best as being there in game when it goes off.. We've done some tweaking on it and it is even looking better than in the video.

Perhaps at some point, we can post up another view from a different angle. :thumbsup:

In anycase, there will be one more release of EoD for sure on the BF2 platform in the coming month or so. Then I am not sure what direction I will take the mod.

Oh and Gunnie = Trahn Lee from EoD.

HURAHHH!!! that's some of the best fire effects i've seen on the engine...cant wait to cook out some campers.......now we need some FOO-GAS since you guys have the effects down nicely for the 50 gallon explosive barrels.

This makes my day, my only true love in the modding world gets beautiful napalm. I'm happy you drag onto another release Gunnie, never expected this. Is there a change we get some more custom made maps? I always loved the classic map feeling, We Were Soldiers Once And Young was such a lovely map.

I'm not being picky but objective here so don't take it the wrong way.

Seems kind of lagged before the explosion goes off. Also real Napalm bombs tended to tumble and spin towards their target.

Yes, it does lag a little initially before you get the real big push of the explosion. By lag, I don't mean the game, but how the effect plays itself out. Katze has been playing with the effect now for awhile and I've also taken to tweaking on it, as has Guedoe from USI trying to get it a little smoother.

Like anything in BF2, it all evolves and continues to evolve. Guedoe thinks he has it playing out a little faster and smoother, so we'll see how it ends up. Part of the problem is I believe that the game engine is limiting us to a slight degree as well.

No offense taken. I appreciate the feedback. In the end tho, it will be what it will be. :salute:
