  • CoD:WaW - Pack A Punch Details Emerge!

    The first details about the "Pack A Punch" machine for the upcoming Map Pack 3 for Call of Duty: World at War have been revealed. This this little weapon upgrading machine sounds it will be a blast and add yet another element to the already fun zombie mode of CoD:WaW. Read below for more details and an image of the "Pack A Punch" machine.
    Attention soldiers! The Pack A Punch machine and its fabled weapon-upgrading capabilities have been shrouded in mystery ever since our recon teams first discovered the zombie infestation at Der Riese. Fortunately HQ has obtained more information about this incredible piece of technology. Apparently, soldiers can place their weapons into the machine, and out comes an extremely powerful, upgraded version of the weapon…for a price.

    Rumors surrounding the Pack A Punch abound. Reports from the field suggest that even the most powerful weapons in your arsenal can be upgraded, such as the .357 Magnum and the PPSh-41. We have yet to actually see these upgraded weapons in action, so that’s why we need you soldier.<!--more-->

    Go into Der Riese, find the Pack A Punch machine, and upgrade every G#dd@$% weapon you can find. We need this intel! This machine could be the difference in the war against the undead, so it’s up to you to find out how powerful the Pack A Punch machine truly is.

    For now, here’s a list of the upgraded weapons we’ve confirmed….so far:

    30 Cal => B115 accelerator
    BAR => The Widow Maker
    Colt 45 => C-3000 b1at-ch35
    Shotgun Double Barreled => 24 Bore long range
    Shotgun Double Barreled Sawed Grip => The Snuff Box
    FG42 => 420 Impeller
    Gewehr43 = > G115 Compressor
    M1A1 Carbine => Widdershins RC-1
    M1Garand => M1000
    MG42 => Barracuda FU-A11
    MP40 => The Afterburner
    .357 Magnum => .357 Plus 1 K1L-u

    Be brave against the zombie horde, and good luck. For more information about Map Pack 3, click here.

    It definitely sounds like a lot of fun! Will you spend your cash in game to use this machine, or continue to play the way you do now?

      a 24 bore shotgun? I would suggest a change in the name or statistics of the upgraded shotgun - here's why...

      A 12 gauge shotgun is larger than a 20 gauge shotty. If you wanted to UPGRADE the power, you would REDUCE the number (eg, a 6 gauge shotty is more powerful than a 12 gauge)

      (a quote from wikipedia below)

      "The gauge of a firearm is a unit of measurement used to express the diameter of the barrel. Gauge is determined from the weight of a solid sphere of lead that will fit the bore of the firearm, and is expressed as the fraction of a pound (e.g. a 1/12th pound ball fits a 12-gauge bore). The term is related to the measurement of cannon, which were also measured by the weight of their iron round shot; an 8 pounder would fire an 8 pound (3.6 kg) spherical cast iron ball and had a bore diameter of about 91 mm (3.6 inches)."

      (from wikipedia)

      Therefore a 1 gauge shotty is more powerful than a 6 gauge and would fire a 1/1 fraction of a pound (1 pound), whereas a 6 gauge would fire 1/6 of a pound of shot.

      A 24 gauge (or bore) shotgun would fire a 24th of a pound of shot, whereas the original shotgun in CoD waw was a 12 gauge, therefore the naming would imply a decreasing of the power of the gun and a reduction of the amount of shot

      (call it the 'KOFTHEB Pounder' - reload time of 5 seconds, blasts every zombie on the screen and has a whole pound of shot!!)

      Add bunny to your signature to help him to his goal of world
      domination !

        Too bad us PC gamers won't get it until a month later.

          It's going to be free, so what's to complain about?

              I was thinking the same thing...it's eerily similar to something you'd find in BioShock.
