I preordered the Hardened edition and I think it's F-IN BS that it's not coming out for PC.

Re: Modern Warfare 2 PC Not Getting Special Editions

Surely this is a ploy by the company? We are already paying more for the Prestige and hardened version for the game on the consoles right? So people would obviously think to buy the game on PC if they have played others in the franchise on it, espcially as its cheaper. Now they are saying that if you want the special edition or just generally want it on a console, then **** you, you can pay more?

I was eagerly anticipating this game, now i really couldn't give a **** if it was released tomorrow. IW have done the dirty.

As sad as it is, Treyarch to me know what a real CoD game is now about, providing the right experience with the right feedback and support from the community and developers, not this BS story from IW.

Re: Modern Warfare 2 PC Not Getting Special Editions

It makes no difference for me, why would I buy a "special edition" of a game that will have a lifetime of about a year before the next big thing happens?

Besides I prefer to buy game through Steam.

Another thing is that I am a bit worried about the Total War example. Is the basic idea that you get better units, and thus an advantage, if you purchase a more expensive version? I would really hate to see that idea catch on.

I feel like its too quick to come to a conclusion that only treyarch can make a call of duty game, I know I may have said that treyarch were terrible even though I hadn't/havent played cod:waw but I don't doubt they are a adequate game developer, but you also can't judge a game on a slight price rise and a few trailers, otherwise you get like me and just biased.

I was actually willing to spend the £110 on the Prestige Edition, because it did look pretty cool but it makes no sense whatsoever for them not to make it.

All you gotta do, is repackage the box slightly and remember to put a PC Game in, instead of XBOX or PS3.

            It's really not that hard.

How can they say that it's not financially profitable to do it for the PC?

People do pirate it, sure, but if people are willing to pay over £100 for a special edition of one of their favourite series then they should be allowed.

I actually contemplated buying it for 360, selling the 360 game and getting it for PC but turns out the standard edition is gunna be mega expensive.

****in' pisses me off. COD4 was pretty much flawless, and even Treyarch's WAW didnt suck too bad.

It's a shame that stuff like this tarnishes a developers reputation.

You can pirate a game, but you can't pirate a special edition box and night vision goggles.

How hard can it be to switch the Xbox/PS3 version of the game from the special edition and put a PC version in?

PC Gaming is not dying. I would say the consoles are the ones about to die. PC's are becoming a lot more common and powerful. The gains for tech and what is coming out means people do not have to constantly upgrade their PCs anymore. Mine is 3 years old with a 2 year old GFX card and I can run ANYTHING out today on high.

I expect to see the decline with the next round of gaming consoles and then after that my guess is they will die out or become full PC's which is where they are headed. Either way I the PC is the marathon runner here.

                        ^ Agreed 100%

It's so annoying to hear people say that consoles sell more copies of a game than PCs do and that people say PC gaming is dying because of it... but they almost always fail to acknowledge that those sales figures don't count digitally distributed copies of games... I bet that if those digitally distributed copies were counted it would show that the PC sells just as much copies of a game digitally, as the Crapbox sells in hard copies... if not more... I also read somewhere that the NPD was going to start counting digitally distributed copies of games on the PC in their sales figures by the end of this year according to this article on IGN: http://pc.ign.com/articles/100/1005720p1.html

There comes a point when consoles are starting are starting to seriously lag behind the performance on PC's, and that's when games like BF2 come out, PC only, because the current generation consoles can't handle the high game specifications.

You can also look at HL2, released in 2004. That game was absolutely amazing back then, and it was PC only because the consoles (Xbox and PS2) couldn't handle the engine, while PC's could handle it just fine. HL2 eventually was made available for the original Xbox in 2005, but that was not without cutting down on a lot of eye candy, and it was generally badly recieved due to bad frame rates and no multiplayer.

I think we'll see the same development in the next years, when the X360 and PS3 can't keep up with PC's, and developers have to develop for PC only to be able to make a fresh game. BF3, if the rumours are right about PC only, could be one of those first game to really push the limit on what's possible.

I believe the thoughts about PC gamers not buying the prestige edition are true. Also, I have said before and agree with some above, that consoles are pretty much heading towards being PCs. Heck, they practically are a PC right now if you use a mouse and keyboard. Hopefully, those digital copies do start getting counted in PC total sales.

It seems like to me, the world of gaming is like the news and the economy. Most of the 'down economy' was purely based upon fear which was spread by the news. Granted, companies were hurting some, but their stocks were down 50% and that company was not doing that bad. Fear drives a lot of things and it almost sounds like a lot of news on the net is trying to say PC gaming is dead in hopes that they kill it. /fail fear mongers :salute:

^Yeah I agree. All this fear is just spread over the internet, making it clogged with a few overly annoying consolers saying "yay! PC gaming is dying. Now they can see it our way!" or mostly pc gamers crying over the fact that we have come to another PC gaming slump thinking its the end.
