Modern Warfare 2 PC Not Getting Special Editions

I can see this story turning nasty relatively fast. IGN is reporting today that Infinity Ward has confirmed that the PC platform will receive no special edition versions of Modern Warfare 2. Listen up:

Modern Warfare 2 PC buyers will just have to stick with the regular edition it seems. Back when Infinity Ward first revealed both the Hardened and Prestige edition's for Modern Warfare 2, there was some confusion about which platforms they would be available for.

But now it's clear neither edition will be available for PC. Infinity Ward's Community Manager Robert Bowling told IGN saying: "There will be no PC version of either collectors' editions."

Does this this announcement truly bother anyone? Aside from the fact it's more console exclusives that shut out the PC crowd, how many PC gamers out there would have purchased the Prestige edition which included the night vision goggles anyway?

Wow. $60 and no special editions. Whats next? Delay the actual PC release to December or even January???

I am on the fence about this game now. It seems this is being made for the consolers and then ported to the PC as a second thought rather than being made for the PC gamers like the previous games. I really do not care about super duper special editions but I do care if the game is being made with the PC audience in mind which now I highly suspect it is not. That along with the new price means this one is going to be a bargain bin buy for me about 8 months after its release.

Whats with the big game companies who started on PC Boning they original community. BF1942 was made for the PC. Now we havent gotten a new BF game for 3 years.
CoD:1 was for PC, we get this ****ty CoD:WaW port to the PC. We have to pay $10 more than any other PC game that ive ever bought.

These new CoDs are ports. Both 4 and WaW are designed for console in mind. That is one of the biggest arguements still is if these games were ported over or not. I dont think there was confusion about PC not getting special editions. People just assumed PC would, but I am sure Activision/IW never planned to.

As for does this bother me? No. I dont buy special editions unless it gives me something extra for the game itself, like Empire:Total War having extra army units.

I am sure its just a matter of time before these games are console only. Like I and many others have said before, it has to be much easier to develop for a specific platform that everyone has with someone elses infrastructure in place than for PC. Money wise its too much of a great chance to make a lot of money but keep support costs low.

As a PC gamer I'm used to getting spit in the face by game devs...

Not like I was gonna buy the special edition, but I bet there are PC gamers out there who would consider buying a LE.

Despite the ridiculous price increase (another spit in the face) those who want to buy the game, will. Others will just pirate it... Happened before, will happen again.

this really isn't a big deal for me.

Yes - CoD4 and WaW were ports. Just look at the frenzy that we call CoD4 MP dynamics

But this may be a decision based on prior sales. Data doesn't lie. The only people who really buy special editions are kids who get too much allowance and parents who don't know what the **** they are doing.

And if anyone doubted that PC gaming is dying - this is no nail in the coffin. They're already pouring the dirt on.

i will just buy the normal edition tbqh i thought about the NVG edition but meh i can get an NVG later in my life lol :p i will just buy it from either play.com or GAME is reasonably priced.
