Xbox 360 Finishes Coral Sea Challenge

Xbox 360 gamers could possibly have finished the Coral Sea Challenge tonight thus unlocking the fourth level in Battlefield 1943.

As the numbers currently stand, Xbox 360 is over 42 43 Million kills and PlayStation 3 is over 22 million kills.

The fourth level Coral Sea contains the new game mode "Air Superiority"

Coral Sea is the ultimate online multiplayer dog fighting map ever released! With two aircraft carriers supplying your team with all the F4U and Zero fighters you’ll need as your conquest to control the skies and make your place in history as an Ace Pilot of Battlefield 1943. Use the volcanic island terrain to your advantage and flank your enemies or weave in and out of the low arches to avoid enemy fire. Stay with your wingman, practice the Thach Weave, and soon you’ll dominate the skies of the Pacific! The choice is yours once you’ve helped achieve the 43,000,000 kills.

If you aren't doing your part to reach the 43 million kills then get shooting now on your PS3 or Xbox 360.

UPDATE: DICE has confirmed that just moments ago Xbox 360 gamers surpassed the 43 Million Kill Mark. The 43rd Millionth kill will be rewarded by dice with some extra stuff.

While un-locking the Coral Sea map was definitely a communal effort, we here at EA DICE would like to give a shout out to Xbox live user James (jkasapi) from Peterborough, England. It was James' virtual bullet that registered the 43,000,000th kill, un-locking the Coral Sea map and Air Superiority mode for all Xbox users. For his trouble, James wins a pair of official 1943 sunglasses, a 1943 t-shirt, and custom Battlefield sneakers! Congrats James!

Playstation fans, keep playing! We'll have a similar give-away when the PS3 community hits 43,000,000 kills.

Whatever they did... it shut off my XBL. :rawr

Oh and the actual game mode is remarkably BORING, one of my favorite things in this game is dogfighting; this is just a mash of planes running into each other and there are only two types of planes of which to run into each other with.

The only objective is to shoot down any other planes that happen to randomly criss-cross the map in front of you... it's not much fun.

Love the game, just love it but the planes in my opinion are just horrible to use. Very sluggish and just odd setup of pitch and yaw. Can't wait for my beloved PC version to come.

Love the game, just love it but the planes in my opinion are just horrible to use. Very sluggish and just odd setup of pitch and yaw. Can't wait for my beloved PC version to come.

Agreed. :agree: They should also put the accelerate and brake buttons on R2 and L2 like most other games. :wall:

They didn't screw anything up.

In their defense, and for our betterment, they decided to finish the console version and then refine it afterwords for the PC. The best course of action for what they are doing IMO.

The whole thing should have been delayed until it was ready on all platforms,its rather a insult to the loyal BF PC fan.

guess the frostbite engine spawned from BF3, current games are the testbed for this new engine. hoo har, bf3 gonna rock your sock off! Although lvl 1 > 2 open'ish betas are great for progress - field work

They never said it wouldn't be a port. They said it wouldn't be a straight console port without any changes.

And no, it hasn't been delayed. People just like to bash DICE constantly, even when they're doing nothing wrong
