"BattlefieldHQ: We can confirm that Battlefield 3 is currently in development but at this stage we have no further comments to add."

I think this will be a kind of bridge between Bad Company and the older BF games. I think that there's also a rather big chance it could be PC only, if they wish to have very high players numbers and still maintain some destruction the specs might be too high for consoles.

But who knows what DICE has up their sleeves... will be very interesting to see more news, and hopefully even pictures.

What I really want to know is how this will stay fresh compared to games like BF2 and BF:BC2.

Consider how BC2 is multiplatform, there's a good chance BF3 will stay a PC exclusive, but who knows.

I doubt we'll get anymore info on this until at least next year, however.

One of the guys at DICE made a blog post about how they had been discussing a new and innovative project a few months ago. People were all over his blog and the post was removed after just a few hours but maybe BF3 is that?

What I am saying is, if we get the game we want, what is the issue with the consoles getting it too?

I have just said what the issue is about that ^^ , watered down gameplay for everybody

i hope they have the manpower & commitment to support and patch all these games they are making post-release (especially on PC). the patching on 2142 has been far from desirable frankly.

Maybe this will be the first Battlefield to have 128 players , that would be a major kill fest , such a blood bath

So it really is true then? Holy sh¡t!

This is the only game I've been anticipating. BF2 is getting old for my dad and I, so it's about time they give us a new game (or at least an announcement).

The only thing I've been doing with BF2 lately has been modding it, so maybe I'll get down to playing a bit more now; can't dominate the transport leaderboard if ya don't play ya know.

I'm quite surprised that the confirmation of BF3 would cause so much hope and joy around the forums.

Like any BF game, I'm looking forward to this one too.

We wont, its battlefield 3, true battlefield 2 sequel. Im pretty sure it will be pc only game, and even though i dont know any details about this game im sure its gonna be epic.

With this news out now i would expect a pretty big news distraction blitz with 1943 and BC:2, Im sure the last thing GVD and KMT wanted to be doing for the next year is getting bombarded with OMG WHEN KANZ I HAZ BF3 questions.

Well yeah but dont forget that BF1943 and BC2 are mostly focused on console players. So this will hardly "reduce" the hype for bc2 and 1943, console guys will be awaiting bc2 and pc guys bf3 :) :yay:

What's the point with coming out with the 1.5 patch for BF2 now that BF3 is coming out.
