The 2142 pre-order bonus was an "exclusive" weapon unlock, but really it's just a replacement model of the SCAR 11 assault rifle.

That was for the Best Buy preorders, there was also one that had a USB dogtag flashdrive and a free unlock. If you had BF2 you also could get a free unlock.

I'm half way through a business and IT systems course at one of the best computing Uni's at the UK, so that would be where I learn my corporate whore'ness :p

Haha, ok Alex, well, I noticed immediately that you sounded very interested and passionate about all things business. It's a very interesting area.

I agree, I may be unrealistic, but I'm a perfectionist, I love everything pushed to the max, and I love Battlefield, so I want only the best for the franchise. I got burned by EA downloader, having to download backups, install, change settings, blah blah blah, I just want to insert the dvd and play the game, so I'm very hesitant with all new ideas about game's distribution and promotion methods.

And I do not agree with their current plans, I don't think it will be a success. But I'm not an expert in the business area, you most likely know way more than I do, and understand what they are doing, so in the end so the only thing I can say, is what the zen master said: We'll see....

For now, I concede, but we'll talk again after Bad Company 2, Heroes and 1943 are released.

I don't think anyone liked EA Downloader. (ohno) But giving preordering buyers a small reward has been done for a long time now.

they are simply following a successful business model, they did it with 2142 aswell......get used to it guys, you'll never see another PC exclusive from DICE ever again so be happy with what we get.....battlefield as we know is it is gone.....doomed to the limits of the console hardware so enjoy your preorder weapon because its the only bone DICE will be throwing our way.....ill be very shocked if they even increase the player limit for the PC version.
