Xbox Secures Two Modern Warfare 2 Map Packs First + New Artwork

During the Microsoft Press Conference today at E3 09, it was announced that the Xbox 360 will receive an exclusive on the first two map packs for Modern Warfare 2 for an extended period of time. After this time frame has been fulfilled, the other platforms will receive the map packs. Two new artworks have also been released for the game which can be found below. They are quite large images but will make great wallpapers!

Looks like Treyarch upped the bar when it comes to DLC, and IW is now responding, telling us that MW2 will have 2 sets of DLC as well. Nice.

The Xbox360 getting stuff first will of course get complaints, but that's the business these days. At least we know extra stuff is coming post-release.

Looks like Treyarch upped the bar when it comes to DLC, and IW is now responding, telling us that MW2 will have 2 sets of DLC as well. Nice.

The Xbox360 getting stuff first will of course get complaints, but that's the business these days. At least we know extra stuff is coming post-release.

Nothing new for PC really. I'd be pissed if I only had a PS3 though.

I think this is a **** move on the part of MS. I hate MS throwing money at companies to make them create exclusive content (GTA IV) or like now with MW2 and its "no one gets these maps until they're old". I hope we get the maps in a somewhat timely manner and free on the PC and it doesn't turn into a "you have to wait until both are out and its been a year for each from the xBox release, plus that will cost you $20 per".

With COD4, PC got the maps about 2 months after Xbox360. It still sucks but really, that's not too bad. Esp if they are going to be sponsored again, and will be free for PC.

M$ are jerks, but this is business, and paying for exclusivity isn't a bad idea on their part. I hate it, but I understand it.

PLUS, we get free custom content created by fellow gamers who actually create some awesome stuff. So the next time a map pack is GOING to be coming out for pc, play some of the other custom maps out there and you will actually get to play even more custom maps for free, while they PAY for their FEW maps.

In general, yes. Console players pay for DLC, but get it right away. As far as COD4 & CODWW go, PC players get the DLC for free through a sponsor like Nvidia or Intel, but after a bit of a delay (so far, 2-8 weeks later).

It's reasonable to think that MW2 will follow a similar path.
