US Intervention Mod Update - 5/17/09

After nearly half a year of silence, the US Intervention mod team is back with a new update today. Here's what they had to say as well as some new media:
Hey there. Yep, it’s been a while and we are very sorry for the long dry period without updates. But we have news, and we are happy to share them! The upcoming Patch 1.5 for Battlefield 2 has revived the motivation in our modders’ hearts so we decided it would be a good idea to finish this baby up. By finishing up, we mean, getting rid off the bad bugs that were in the previous 0.17 release. So what’s the news, you might ask? Well, here we go:

First of all, our mapping guru [EoD] Junglist was able to finish up his map, so expect Silent City to be part of the next release. We also added a few new statics to it, so it’s not just all BF2. Even though we would like to add more custom statics, the fact that our modeling department is very weak nowadays won’t allow us to add that much new stuff. Another good news from the mapping department is that we have finally been able to fix the bugs that caused Road of Destruction to crash randomly while playing singleplayer and coop game modes. Thanks to the guys over at BFSP for helping us fixing this issue.

    <!--more-->
We have made a bunch of changes so far, which include but are not limited to: New kit layout, updated HUD graphics, three new weapons, as well as some improvements to infantry movement. The new changes go along with a pretty long list of bugfixes, and we are still working on even more fixes and ideas, so watch out for new updates here! Unfortunately, we have no idea if the announced OH-58D Kiowa Helicopter will make it into the release, since until now, we were not able to create a cockpit texture that matches the quality our mod is known for. Currently it’s just three developers that are working on the mod, so if you have any modding skills and would like to improve USI, apply for a position! If you would like to see additional fixes/features but you don’t have the modding skills it takes to join us, you can still help us by posting suggestions!

Last but not least, we want to share pictures of the three new weapons directly from the game. The first one is the M60, which will replace the M249 SAW, as we felt the M249 is way too new for 1991. Second and third weapons are the M14 and SKS Simonov, which are now the main weapons of the US and Iraqi engineers, respectively. M11-87 and Saiga shotguns have been moved to slot 2.

    Nice, always loved this mod.

It seemed to strike a balance between Project Reality and normal BF2, don't know why it's not as popular though. Maybe people aren't into the gulf war anymore, would be awesome to see other armies.

either way I will definitely be downloading the update.

Yes, this mod is great, so is it's quality.

Now just look at the American stuff in PR and then check the American stuff in USI, PR got alot from USI, really alot :)

Even though the SAW was rare in the first Gulf War I still hope we can see it in limited numbers, pick up maybe.

I was using the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon in 1987... Why would it have not been in theater in 1991?

ehhh, I'm sorry but all the US Hand weapons in PR are made by PR?

The M16A4 series, made 100% by PR
The M4 series, made 100% by PR off the M16A4 model.

Now thous are the 2 main rifles that are used in basically every US kit, and by series I mean all the different versions with different sights, ones with UGLs etc.

            Ontop of that:
The M249 made 100% by PR
The M14 was modelled by EOD and skinned by PR
the USMC sniper rifle, forgot the name was made by SatNav for the BF2 Community

I can't think of any US hand weapons that have come from USI tbh?

Now if you are going to talk about other factions weapons, ye loads of them came from USI such as the AKS-74U etc :)

I'm not talking about the US handweapons Rhino. I already knew about the AK's (though your AK-47 is actually the improved AKM) and the AKS etc.

I honestly believe that through Black Sand Studios you got the Abrams, Deuce-and-a-Half, Ack-Ack Hummvee and support Hummvee from USI. Also those APC's from the MEC + their truck also look identical from those made by the USI team.

                Forgive if I'm wrong.

You where a lucky person, in '87 it was only issued in limited numbers and later the entire production was paused since their where alot of things on the M249 that made the staff unhappy but there was no money to improve them. Halfway the nineties it was issued full power to all units.

Heheh, well our AK-47 (its made by PR if your confused) is in fact a mixture of a normal AK-47 and AKM :p

The M1A2 is just the vBF2 M1A2, thou reskinned. We do plan on modifying the USI M1A1 into a M1A2 in the future thou :)

The HMMWV is again, a slightly modifed and reskinned version of the USI one ye. the BTR-60 is a modified version of the EoD BTR-60 :)

The trucks are all from USI :)

And ye, we have a lot of stuff from USI, they have made some grate stuff and we have given them a bunch of ours too

I later did some more research on the AKM and that made me thinking so the fact it's a hybrid explains all :p

And saying that alot of USI stuff in PR is no way saying that PR is lazy or something (I think thats how you got it) it's to say that USI is a damn fine mod that other mods like PR want their stuff.

USI, PR, and Eod among others founded the BSS community. So it shouldn't be a surprise to see common assets within these 3 mods. In some cases work would take longer had not we all worked together. I just hope to see the USI player base arise from the dead as this may be the final installment of USI.
