New Battlefield 1943 Previews + Interviews

A number of new previews and interviews have been released today alongside the new Iwo Jima Trailer. Check out some excerpts from the Shacknews interview below (not all questions were about BF1943!):

Shack: There have been some rumblings that the PC edition of Battlefield 1943 could remove the 24-player limit of the console versions along with unlimited ammo and regenerating health. Any truth to that?

Van Dyke: Those are all things that we're taking into consideration. We know that the PC crowd, they look for some different things in games than maybe somebody on the console. So it's definitely something we're thinking about, but we're not gonna restrict one or the other.

Whatever we do come up with, we're gonna try and make sure we maintain the core values of this game that we've worked so hard on and the core gameplay features, but then look at what the PC can support and if it can offer some alternatives and things in that nature.

Shack: That said, I have to ask, where's Battlefield 3?

Van Dyke: There is no Battlefield 3 [laughter]. That's just a rumor! Where's that PDF? It doesn't exist! [laughter]

[People] just need to be patient and wait. DICE isn't going anywhere. There's going to be more games, and I think that those games are really gonna hit what it is that people are seeking from a Battlefield game in the next generation.

um....i hardly think that heroes and 1943 are "what people are seeking from a battlefield game in the next generation" This is simply what the suits upstairs told you that people want.

thats why you get asked about bf3 all the time. we don't care about heroes or 1943 (for the most part).

Also you mention your producer is a huge BF fan and played bf2 and bf2142. Has he played 1942?


Regarding BF:BC2 - no comment until we hear more info.

Other than that, nothing of newsworthiness, standard dice interview with interviewer poking and prodding about future crap, The 5 games crap comes up, and battlefield 3 is name dropped and teased just like every other dice interview still stringing along those like me who wish to see this other crap dropped and real effort be put into a true BF2 follow up but that's just my opinion. Hero's is still being pimped in an effort to try to squeeze some kind of cash out of it, and with EA on their sides they should have no problem doing so. 1943 gets no SDK, and they wouldnt confirm any changes to gameplay on the pc.

Cue next cookie cutter dice interview.
