    Modern Warfare 2 Poster

We recently reported on the rumored box art that was being shown for Modern Warfare 2. Well it appears that the artwork was indeed correct. Take a look:
Looks like will0274 was right, the MW2 art he found was indeed spot on. The following MW2 poster is now up in many Gamestops across the U.S. Note the lone American soldier, clothes torn, walking through a mini-whirlwind of debris (some of it on fire). The scene is somewhat post-apocalyptic. Did he survive the nuke from the MW SP story? The poster comes adorned by the signatures of the IW team themselves.

Thanks to the guys over at BASHandSlash for the news.

It'd be pretty cool if we could step into Jackson's shoes again, though I doubt he could have survived the nuclear blast.

Jackson surviving is an interesting theory. I haven't played the SP since it came out, so I don't know if he was ever "officially" declared dead...but they were a fair distance away from the blast, and it was probably a smaller tactical nuke...so if he wasn't too seriously injured from the crash of the helo, the radiation probably would not have killed him that quickly. He might have just passed out from shock, and could have been rescued before getting lethal exposure.

I think it's probably unlikely, given the way the cinematic played out...but if IW wanted to have him survive and return in MW2, I think that's a plausible explanation. Same with Price...he was in bad shape at the end, but we never really did see him "die", so if they want him back, he could be there.

Guess we'll find out in early Nov.

Jackson was declared dead. It said Jackson, Status: K.I.A. Also they were not at a safe distance from the blast because their cobra escort was shot down just when command tells everyone to fall back.

They might have thought him to be KIA. I think that list with hundreds of names scrolling by was suspected KIA.

I hope he's dead. I don't think frequent vomiting and diarrhea is going to do it for me.

They could have gotten his death wrong. With the kaos of the blast and all those people missing and such. It could happen.

Im with Iwantcable on the radiation sickness thing.

It's obvious that he loses consciousness but beyond that, we don't actually know.

By "safe distance", I meant that the blast didn't vaporize them...the choppers got hit by the air shockwave and went down. You can see the mushroom cloud in the distance once you stumble out of the choppa. Injuries would've been from the crash and radiation on the ground. Depending on the distance from the blast, the size/power of the bomb, and how long he was there before being rescued, his exposure might not have been fatal.

I agree that when the game was made, I think they meant to portray Jackson's death. But if they wanted him back, it wouldn't be out of the realm of plausibility to explain how he survived.

That being said, I don't think they will...I think that pic above is just temporary marketing, and not the real box art, or just a pic of a random soldier wearily walking back to base.

Nah, I think he's dead anyway.. When it does the video between missions, and it switches between SAS and USMC, in the video at the end of that mission is says KIA.

First thing that came to mind was Far Cry 2.

I'm not very good with Photoshop, but I took a quick stab at taking the higher-res Game Informer magazine cover, painting over the barcode and extra wording, and overlaying the MW2 logo...just to see what the actual cover might look like when it hits the shelves.

Maybe some GFX people with more skill (and time) can do a better mock-up eventually...

I think it's a viable cover if they choose to use it. Like I said previously, I hope this game is a little more gritty/real.
