Valve is freaking out this Friday by offering Left 4 Dead and the Survival Pack DLC free for 24 hours for anyone to try. Check it out:

Beginning Friday at 12:01 am GMT, the PC version of Left 4 Dead will be available for a free 24-hour trial via Steam. The free trial will include access to the recently released Survival Pack DLC, which introduces a new multiplayer game mode and two additional Versus campaigns. Those who wish to give L4D and the Survival Pack a try may now pre-load everything needed to play with no obligation to purchase.

Check Steam this Friday for the free trial.

Manzi, it's a free trail, it's got no signup or anything - you just download the game today (right now) and try it out - it's great fun... just spend 3 hours playing it!

AND there is also a 40% off Weekend deal for Left 4 Dead, so if you liked it you MUST buy it this weekend... I've been waiting for it to go on a weekend deal for a while and now it's on, just need to get my card and buy it :) (although I might wait till Saturday, incase it messes up with the 24 hour trial)

Good point, though you could have pre-loaded it. Not to worry any ways as the servers are rammed and dieing as we speak.
