UFC 2009 Undisputed - Demo Released

THQ today has released the demo for UFC 2009 Undisputed one of the first mixed martial arts videogames. Check it out:

In celebration of UFC® 97, held last weekend in Montreal, Quebec, the playable demo will allow consumers to sample an exhibition bout with former UFC® Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. The demo will also include a portion of the game’s Tutorial Mode, which further educates players about UFC 2009 Undisputed’s unique gameplay controls, as well as the sport of mixed martial arts. UFC 2009 Undisputed is scheduled for release on May 19, 2009 for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 system.

“The playable demo for UFC 2009 Undisputed will allow consumers to have their first taste of virtual Octagon™ action prior to our highly anticipated launch on May 19,” said Scott Guthrie, executive vice president, publishing, THQ. “We look forward to seeing how fans embrace this powerful mixed martial arts gameplay experience.”

“Fans around the world have been clamoring for a great UFC videogame for quite some time,” said Dana White, president, UFC. “We are pleased to offer a free sample of UFC 2009 Undisputed featuring two great athletes and competitors, Chuck Liddell and ‘Shogun’ Rua, prior to launch.”

Be sure to check out the demo on your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

I hope this game goes nowhere but the list of discontinued titles. Both the sport and game are ridiculous.

Which is one of the reasons I say it's stupid

But in all seriousness, I can see this game getting caught up in the media as 12 year old kids try to triple spin kick each other in the face. I kinda hope it does, maybe then it'll be banned :p

True, but I believe given the nature of the sport, it may have more influence than other just as silly sports such as wrestling.

You are probably right a little bit but for the most part UFC has an older audience then say the WWE.

All you do in UFC is beat the **** out of people as if it was a drunken bar fight. To me this is not a sport but more like modern day gladiators except no lions tigers, or death.. shame. be AWESOME if there was.

But by making such a sport available through game, you're undoubtedly making it available to a lower age range. Despite the fact that the audience may be on average older, kids are still highly impressionable and when they look at the back of the case, they'll no doubt be attracted (whether or not they were previously a fan).

I have to say, if I saw an adult playing this or WWE, I would slap them around the head.

Oh how you do not understand the people in my region. (Think of a mix of, Jerry Springer Show, King of the Hill, and My Name is Earl)

I highly doubt that this game will be banned(well, maybe in Australia ). Because if you think how many accidents WWE games have caused(using the moves from the game/WWE in the backyard with friends). And still they come up with new game every year...

The demo kind of impressed me as well, the commentry was pretty damn good for a game, the only really obvious repitition was at the replays at the end, seems like a credible contender for Fight Night especially with UFC growing in popularity recently.

The demo is great fun, deffinetly getting this game...

WWE is good fun too, although watching it is kinda boring as most of the matches are too predictable now - the only time I watch it is for Wrestlemania

It's pretty addictive, Liddell is more of a street fighter so it's easy to get a knockout with punches and kicks, but with Rua - he's better with getting the other person in a submission move... although I've been able to knockout my bro a few times with Rua against Liddell - it takes a lot longer then a quick submission in the right spot.

The controls are quite good, easy to understand and get used to.

Sure, there's probably gonna be some dumb kids playing this game and then immitating a fight with someone else... but how different is that from playing Street Fighter, Tekken or Fight Night Round 4?

UFC is really popular in USA and Canada...
