Just a couple of days ago, DICE created a new Twitter account dubbed BattlefieldHQ to give us updates on the Battlefield 2 patch. They have been rolling in quite steadily, and point to a release of the beta 1.50 patch very soon:
BattlefieldHQ: Expect an update on when BF2 1.50 beta will be released sometime SOON! It'll appear on www.battlefield.com and right here when it happens.
BattlefieldHQ: Battlefield 2 Update 1.50 may not have widescreen support in time for Beta but we'll look into it in time for Final release.
BattlefieldHQ: Doing a run on possibly the final build of BF2 Update 1.50 Beta installers and servers...So close you can almost taste it.
