EA Ships Illegal Weapons To Press, Wants Them Back

In a slightly humorous story today, Kotaku is reporting that EA recently shipped out illegal weapons to the press along with The Godfather II game. Have a look:

The representative that contacted me said that the company wanted to make sure that the brass knuckles were "properly disposed of." He declined to comment any further. Contacted by email Friday, an Electronic Arts spokesperson verified that the company is asking that all of the brass knuckles shipped out be returned.

Brass knuckles or metallic knuckles are illegal in many of the states that they were shipped to. They're also illegal in California, where EA is based.

In Colorado, possessing an illegal weapon is a class 1 misdemeanor, according to a Denver police spokeswoman. Illegal weapons are defined as a blackjack, gas gun, metallic knuckles, gravity knife, or switchblade knife.

Electronic Arts did not respond to emails seeking comment about the legality of the items they shipped and whether they faced any legal actions for shipping them across state lines.

There is an update to this story that states that after research they found that according to California Penal Code even shipping brass knuckles may be illegal. It seems this mess won't end well for someone.

Hahaha, go EA. Just about everything that harms people is illegal in California, though (or heavily regulated). :/

1) they're not smart enough
2) a company like EA wouldn't knowingly screw with anything that could remotely have legal issues. Their legal dept is very conservative.

Not sure if they are illegal here, many years ago when I was a freshmen in highschool I watched one of my brother's friends get in a fight versus a guy who had brass knuckles, he got him good in the side of the head once with them, and then my bro's friend got angry and kicked his ***. So brass knuckles arn't everything,

I didn't say that..

They don't help you much if you don't land a good shot with them.

But if you have something like an baseball bat, blackjack or telescopic baton(the one what the police have). Then it's whole different ball game. Because then there's the "scare factor"(meaning the "Oh sh*t, that guy has a baseball bat"). And it isn't too hard to land a good shot with them..

If i would have to choose, i'd go with the good old fasioned fighting. I mean, 1vs1 and no baseball bats or anything. And if the other guy get's knocked down, that's the end of it. No kicking or punching when he's down.

From what i have seen, it's always like 20 vs 1, and they'll kick him until cops show up..

Even where they aren't illegal, they are still associated with crime, so they are sold covertly as paperweights.

I prefer the telescopic batons.
