Nobody's mentioned the last secret legal thing? What if it's the booster packs...

Or maybe widescreen support. Both ideas have been thrown around. I HIGHLY doubt it will be the booster packs, as one of the Dice reps already said that's not even on the table, they aren't even thinking about it.
Right now I think the boosters are costing them more money in storage space and allocated bandwidth than they stand to make in the next 5 years. Since no one plays them, very few people buy them unless they buy the BF2 collection pack. The EA downloader crap didn't help, either. Between the BF2 boosters and Northern Strike, I have had nothing but problems with the downloader.

didn't dice say no widescreen due to unfair advantage?

but then after that, they did give 2142 built in widescreen resolution support, but i don't think it adjusts FOV.

          Re: 1.50 Patch News Redux

Right now I’m just excited about this new patch that will be coming eventually and fix some problems without creating new ones (hopefully). I’m not ecstatic or something else because I personally have been let down so many times by DICE and EA when it comes to BF2 series. After one very good and stable and relatively balanced game as BF1942 was we got BF2 that was full of bugs, CTDs (crash to desktop), lag, hacks, server stability issues, balance issues, weird hit boxes and everything else that I forgot to mention. Nevertheless all this wasn’t enough to draw me away from BF2 but made me very serious when it comes to buying future EA and DICE products. Didn’t purchased BF2142. Played demo, seen a lot of bugs and problems. Same will be with all future games especially when they are made by either EA or DICE.

So. New BF2 patch? Sure bring it on. Let’s see what beta testing will bring to light.

          Announced BF titles?

BF: BC2 – no thanks, never had good experience with console games on PC.

BF Heroes – its free which is nice, but too cartoonish for my taste.

BF1943 – again console game on PC and expected arcade-ish character of the game. All these are made to target as wide gaming population as possible. Playing safe in this troubled times is a good strategy.

What now? Waiting for new BF title that will be real successor of Battlefield dynasty as I know it. In the mean time new patch is welcomed refreshment of an good old game that will always have a dedicated space on my hard drive (or even SSD – why not? ) and time to play it on-line as long as there will be servers – ranked on not.

See you all on The BattleField!

ps. sry for slightly longer post :salute:

I'm guessing they're just going the way of Diablo 2. The game has been out for quite a while, a valid CD key is enough without having physical media in the drive. Since miniISOs have been pretty standard for a lot of BF2 players for a while now, I'm not surprised at this move.

That's odd... I dont have to click Run As Administrator for anything. Then again, I don't play on my parents PC lol.

How hare they going to address the install issues with Vista 64, namely crashing at the audio/voip set up when the game is first being installed?

I hope they add head shot messages.
i've run into this issue as well but if it happens to you just reboot in safe mode and then reinstall, it works just fine.

it sounds like they are going to be implementing the new safedisc procedure witch doesn't require the disc in the drive but will install some "extras" on your PC. id also imagine this will run through the EA tool for the verification much like the booster packs are so if your not running the EA tool you can not play the game.

Honestly, this should have been done when the patch 1.3 came out.

Props to DICE for trying to support the game still, but I don't think there is anything they can do to bring some of us back.

I used to play this game till the morning and take it so seriously. I thought Id never stop playing it but I did, and I don't think there is anything that can bring it back for me.

Especially in organized tournaments like the one here at Totalbf2 and bf2combat. The game never gets old when there is heated competition involved.

Last YEAR (2008) when they said it would be released by Christmas... I guess they meant Christmas 2009. :bebored:

It will be GREAT to finally get a new patch, we have been waiting a long time for this one.

We can kill someone before we can see them. The ADA have a motto: Night Hides Not. This also figures into air superiority. So if you take away all sensor packages and joint comms capabilities (Link-16), maybe the J-10 would be a superior aircraft. You know, if the U.S. didn't have better avionics and guidance systems on armaments and radar and all. In a kid's toy world, suppose, where none of those things are factors.
