The updates page showed 1.4 and download mirrors, but it's been removed already. It was up for about 30 seconds.

Typical.... At least its not glitched and the budding fans that downloaded the patch the second it went up wont have broken games. I am waiting for my lovely Steam/Raptr client to DL it.

How does Intel's "partnership" allow us to get this "Patch" for "Free"? Is Intel sponsoring this release? What do they get out of this relationship?

It's similar to what COD4 did last year with Nvidia, sponsoring the map pack. Consoles had to pay $10 for it, as they do again this year with CODWW, but PC gets them for free.

Basically, it's Micro$oft being greedy and not allowing the DLC to go out to Consoles free. So, to avoid angering Console users, Activision found a sponsor for the map packs for PC and delayed them a bit (3 weeks for CODWW, 2 months for COD4).

As for what Intel is getting out of it, advertising. On the loading screens of the new maps are Intel logos. Nvidia got a lot of props last year for sponsoring the COD4 map pack, which likely brought them a lot of sales from grateful users, and Intel will get some of the same this time.
