for some reason, i can feel the same thing happening for this patch like it did for cod4

i swear, if it takes 2-3 months for the maps to come to pc like it did for cod4 im going to flip.

yeah i know that they have to figure out the patch and the sponsership stuff so its free.

I just want to see you flip. I am willing to wait 2-3 months to see that.

In fact, now I am set on it. This will be the worst game ever if they release it sooner than 3 months.

          :wee:

It took almost exactly 2 months to the day on COD4. Not at all a bad deal since we got them totally free.

With the wedding now imminent, I won't have time to play it for at least a few more weeks probably anyway. I can wait.

They didn't hold a patch hostage while they worked out the free map pack with COD4 though, did they?

Actually, it was worse. In COD4, patch v1.5 came out on Feb 1. Patch v1.6, which included the maps and a few more fixes, came out Jun 4. That's 4 months. Once again, people tend to remember IW with overly rose-coloured glasses.

Using the term "hostage" is being too dramatic. Releasing a patch isn't a simple, or cheap process. It's more efficient from a financial standpoint to release fewer patches, with more in them. And, all the fixes they're working on are not done yet, as we've seen from JD's comments. It makes sense to keep working on them while the map stuff is sorted out.

IW started out with big ideas of releasing a lot of small patches quickly, but then slowed down quite a bit (funny how that works). Treyarch from the start took a different approach of releasing fewer patches further apart, but having more fixes in them. Again, this is the better policy from a fiscal standpoint, which is important in the current economy.

The reason I use the word "hostage" is because the patch is complete. According to JD, the technical stuff is done. The delay is purely administrative, caused by corporate red tape. That is where my frustration stems from.
If IW held actual game fixes while waiting for corporate B$ with the map pack, screw them, too. That was why I worded that as a question before, I didn't start playing COD4 until after patch 1.6 because that was when I heard most of the irritating bugs were fixed. If they refused to release game fixes while waiting on money for DLC, screw them in their stupid faces.
Sure, DLC is a bonus. Patches that fix identified game issues are not "extras."
