That's part of the mindset that people have to get away from, though. This isn't BF2 or BF3, nor is it meant to be.

Judge it on its own merits and be careful about comparing them too much. As I said above, this, and 1943, are going to be a smaller games, and some things will play out differently because of that.

But by the sounds of all the work they seem to be putting into this a 3rd BF may not even be in the works and instead they might be trying to kill two birds with one stone.. I'll have to wait and see.. I just hope to god it's not a sh*tty port over from the console versions.

If I had to guess, I'd say that you're at least partially right. I think that BF3 is still a fair way off, and that DICE realized that a lot of PC players have been hoping for something new to play. Many hoped last year that BC1 would've been on PC, not just consoles.

I think that BC2 and 1943 are DICE's attempt to do the best they can to fill that void and at least give PC players something new to play with while they continue to wait for BF3. I don't think it's a replacement for BF3.

It's fairly likely that because BC1 came out on Consoles last year, that these games will be based on Consoles as well (because the design already exists), but will hopefully have enough of their interface changed, along with some game mechanics, that will be acceptable to PC users too.

most of my rants were about bf1943. i've been pretty silent about this game.

i'm nervous that too many gameplay elements that were designed for console play will make it to the PC version. It is too early to tell right now though.

Let's hope that there are more than 24 player servers. DICE wouldn't diss us like that.

If they did make 24 player servers - they probably wouldn't let any mods have ranks so any shot at a popular 64 player mod goes out the window when you discuss ranks/unlocks.

Why cant they just bring out another MP orientated BF and put us out of our missery

I'm guessing one reason they're focusing on SP as much as they are is a study Epic did with UT2004. They found that less than half of the people who bought and played it ever went online and made a unique name. That's why they included a more robust single player element in the Championship games and why they tried to flesh out the SP a little in UT3. Sadly, UT3 was panned by many and it's hard for me to find a decent server with a good ping. So I end up killing a lot of bots when I play, too.:dead:
Many people (most, according to Epic) buy games without ever intending to play them online against people. This is one reason the COD series has been so successful. They have a solid SP experience that many would consider worth the price of admission on its own. Then they have a fully realized MP that doesn't feel tacked on in the least.
Good SP + Good MP = pure win.:yay:

This actually sounds pretty good. I really cant wait for some footage. I am very curious about what kind of unlock system will be implemented. I have been saying this for awhile now, and I will say it again I want customizable weapons. lol

It sounds good, hope it will be good. Dont know about a lot of you but im not going to miss jets, sure they were fun, but they were badly balanced and ruined some really good maps for me. that took all the fun away from jets. but thats just my opinion.

as a console player, I never really piloted jets. So if they are in or out, it doesnt matter. I cannot wait until E3 though, Im really curious on the player count and player classes!

I would be ok with that if it is sufficiently PC enough and not just a console game with console mechanics, simply ported over.

Don't get too hopeful about that BC2 date. In a video interview, one of the DICE producers said "Winter 2009", and I think the Eurogamer article stated "back end of 2009/early 2010".

If I had to bet, I'd say MW2, coming Nov 10, will be out first.
