PETA Joins Protest Against CoD:WW Attack Dogs

Well, some news that many of us are actually surprised is so late, is finally here! Apparently, PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) has now made their stand against the treatment of the...virtual...dogs in CoD:WW. Read below:
Following a Massachusetts high school petition protesting the treatment of dogs in Call of Duty: World at War, the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is now joining the protest as well. Upon seeing news of the protest, PETA sent publisher Activision Blizzard an invitation to take one of its "Developing Empathy for Animals" seminars for free. The organization has also sent the company a package of Nintendogs for the DS, which it deems "dog-friendly." PETA hopes the puppy sim will help influence Activision's treatment of animals in future games, with the organization's blog noting "perhaps the next Call of Duty game will have you unlock achievements for petting the dogs you encounter and going on walks or playing Frisbee with them."

Is that before or after the Nazi attack dog bites the player's hand off?

In my opinion, HILARIOUS! What is your opinion? I do feel bad killing Fido every once in a while, except when he's attacking me!

Also, TotalCoD predicted PETA's anger with the CoD series previously, click here. It was just the wrong animal that was predicted.

I didnt think this was even news worthy

You all need to read the original article to get the full deal.
TYNGSBORO — Breanna Lucci knows her two Pomeranians — Fluffy and Winnie the Pooh — would not last two seconds in “Call of Duty: World at War,” the immensely popular video game in which the animated gore piles…

First, Lucci is a hypocrite as she defends her brother for playing the game and saying it is OK with him doing so, but others should not.

Second, Lucci points out parts of the game that are not true. She mentions a dog killing level where the objective is to kill as many dogs as possible.

Finally, Lucci mentions nothing about how this game is killing PEOPLE. So the moral of the story is killing people is fine, but killing dogs that are attacking you first is not.

I also commented on the original posting about how she and her friends need to spend time helping real animals in the world by putting their time and effort in their local Humane Society. These organizations need real help and support and never get it as its meant for something to be mentioned but never heard. She should also think about supporting spade/neutering programs as this will help keep the populations down from everyone who keeps raising these animals in mass and not taking care of them.

    Anyway, that was my thoughts

EDIT: To further the hypocracy, the newspaper shut down the comment section of this article. It seems hearing both sides of the debate is not an option.

PETA is a joke, just like any other high-profile fringe "rights" group.

If they were truly serious about helping animals, they would use their considerable resources for realistic things, like raising awareness and helping out animal shelters, humane societies, veterinary clinics, dog pounds, etc. Instead, they hire nutbar celebrities like Pamela Anderson, pull public stunts, and put out provocative ads about wearing fur, not eating KFC, etc, etc. They seem more like a nudist colony of attention whores than animal lovers.

Seems to me that they're far more concerned about looking like they care, but more staying in the spotlight and collecting money.

Could see this coming from the day the video of the dogs was released.

PETA is a joke. No one takes them seriously.

The thing is PETA had too, its what they stand for at the end of the day. I suspect they took this long because they actually don't believe it to be a problem towards dogs and that they were purely put under pressure by their own members. This isn't so much to attack COD:WaW but more to satisfy its own base.

You try to bring logical reason to this...

That screenshot isn't even from WaW...its COD4 and I'm guessing they photoshopped a dog into it. LOL

Lucci then adds, "My brother is a sweetheart. He won't be killing dogs after playing. But some people might."
Some people, sure, but the same type that shoot people after playing video games. It's nothing to ban violent video games for.

Lucci says the game's retail price of $59.99 is another good reason parents should discourage their children from purchasing "Call of Duty: World at War," which carries a "Mature 17-plus" rating.

^I think that says enough about that statement.

Haha, that's the first thing I noticed, that it was CoD4. Looks like the ghillie suit sniper mission.

She said it was one of the objectives of the game, which I consider true, since killing a attack dog going for you or your teammates would definitely be an objective for me. You get points for it too.

                            Devil's advocate time:

Lucci doesn't but another person in the article did. Perhaps she was more focused on the dog-killing aspect than the people-killing, which has been addressed over and over again before.
