  • Fallout 3 DLC "The Pitt" Released, Problems Arise

The latest Fallout 3 DLC has been released today titled The Pitt. This new DLC has the player journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Here is some more info:
Pittsburgh was once the industrial center of the pre-war world. The city was spared the horrors of nuclear fire, only to have its people infected by a nightmare plague of disease, infection, and mutation. Travel to the ruins of this industrial city, now called The Pitt, and discover a secret that could send shockwaves through the entire Wasteland. Battle vicious mutated Trogs, employ deadly new weapons like the AutoAxe and Infiltrator silenced assault rifle, and decide the fate of the infected slaves and slavers that call this city home. Only you can find the cure – but will you have the guts to use it?

The Pitt is currently on sale now through Xbox Live for 800 MS points or $10 for PC.

The release hasn't come without problems, however. According to a post over on Shacknews, the Xbox 360 version of the DLC is plagued with a major bug. Listen up:
"It's completely broken," AuXoIs wrote over on Major Nelson, as noticed by VG247. "There are these box exclamation points all over...It's like not playable after the bridge because it freezes. If you manage to get past the bridge part you're pretty much in glitch city."

However, the issues aren't apparently universal, as some say they've experienced no problems. Forumites suggest re-downloading the file and ensuring that the entire 682MB are acquired, as some claim that they only downloaded some 492MB or so.

An update on this issue has been released by the developer, Bethesda:
"As of now it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted," marketing VP Pete Hines told Shacknews.

"We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360," he added. "We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads. Our plan is to replace it with a new file as soon as possible."

So if you're having any problems with the new DLC, you can either try to re-download it or wait for Bethesda to fix the problem for good. Either way, the DLC is now available to purchase.
