The News Media Is At It Again - Top Gun

The news media is at it again blaming the death of Brandon Crisp on his so called, "gaming addiction" as well as the professional gaming circuits. Here is an excerpt from CBC's story. Check it out:

When Brandon Crisp's parents took away his Xbox, they had no idea that their attempt to restrict their son's video gaming would lead to tragedy. In retaliation, Brandon ran away. His body was found three weeks later. His disappearance, and death, became a national news story as it revealed a dark side to what many thought was a harmless entertainment. Gillian Findlay investigates how a video gaming obsession can turn to addiction and a pro gaming circuit with thousands of dollars in potential winnings, experts say, can fuel the need to play.

To see CBC's story Top Gun click here. In case you have forgotten Brandon Crisp ran away from home and was later found frozen in rural Canada.

American news reports are so biased from the start absolutely zero impartiality, none. Got to love media amplification.

E-sports sponsors/prize money doesn't rival half of traditional sports. And not to mention Fifa has a competitive edge don't see that being attacked for it's tournaments.

All these types of news reports do is criminalise people who play games, and the entire industry.

Love the mention of the training total ******** and the hardcore mode slandering. If your getting influenced by guys over the net to play games.

Halo 3 menacing robots lol? "Teen" Can be anything from 13-19 FFS!!

    Argh!

Wow 40mins... TL;DW. It sucks that video games always get singled out as a medium for attacks like this.

It's just the video games turn to take the hits. Metal music took some hits and before that tv now its the games turn. Soon there will be a new thing to blame.

Anything can become an addiction or obsession, add into that a unstable teen and taking away his Xbox, and no good will come out of it. It wasn't the video game's fault - it was the addiction.

The funny thing is when they describe this kid's addiction and how he would be playing and how long it sounded almost exactly like me in like 2006. (Before I was staff at TGN) All I would do was play Battlefield 2, Counter Strike Source, and Medal of Honor: Spearhead I was in clans I did wars I was up at all sorts of hours.

That came from Canada, not the US.

As in that report? Fair enough.

Even so most news reports I've seen from over there leave a little to be desired.
