Kalypso release the first screenshots from Tropico 3

Kalypso Media have decided to treat you! With some new screenshots from Tropico 3. Take a look:

OK, it’s Friday and we can’t send you to a Tropical Island for the weekend, but we can reveal some early development screenshots from Tropico 3, the third of the popular and highly successful strategy simulation series.

Tropico 3 is being developed by the top development team, Haemimont Games – also known for Imperium Romanum and GRAND AGES: ROME. All three titles are published by Kalypso Media. The storyline of Tropico 3 follows-up the first Tropico of the series. Hence, there will be a reunion with El Presidente!

Tropico 3 will be released world wide in late summer 2009. For those of you who don't remember Tropico 1 & 2 was released several years ago under publisher Gathering of Developers a now defunct publishing title from Take Two Interactive who then sold the rights to the series.

Cool concept, IMO. I don't play strat/sim games, but something like this would appeal to me much more than just building cities or amusement parks or things like that.

Maybe it's the tropical island/vacation setting of this one. I need to plan a trip to somewhere sunny and hot again one of these days.

Tropico was probably one of the best simulation games I have ever played I have the expansion pack for it as well. The island theme was very enjoyable and I loved the music in the game. Tropico 2 was kind of a disappointment because it was not the same developer as the original and it was called Tropico 2 Pirate Cove and the gameplay was so different. But seeing that the new developers are going back to the original Tropico theme and gameplay is great to hear.
