They fixed a lot of major things and have a map added. Everyone knows that bigger is better

What do you mean by "improved?" They said they fixed multiplayer map glitches, if that's what you mean.
And with my work 'nets, it took right at 4 minutes to download the patch from FileFront.
I haven't really looked, but does this patch contain all of the fixes from 1.1 or is it incremental? If it's incremental, I can see how someone could be a little daunted by the idea of ~850MB in patches...

Thats what I mean by "improved". DaNs post shows the maps are being replaced, thats why the patch is big.

Downloading, no real fast mirrors out there? FP Max Speed mirror is peaking at 390kbs but averaging at about 200kbs for me.
