    Re: Battlefield 2 v1.50 Patch Update - 1/13/09

Dice had something great with BF1942. It's too bad EA got involved.

BF2 support is one of the worst in the business. A lot of empty promises, missed features, glaring holes, and poor coding.

plain and simple. DICE would have us believe that there's an explanation: but they can't tell us the real reason.

With EA involved - you can bet its politics and money.

that's because most of the people around here are whiny pricks. No matter what DICE does people *****, moan, whine, cry and complain. Very rarely does anyone ever say anything positive.

Would you care to expound on that? Tell those that have expectations set by feature notes, retracted patch notes, money spent upgrading hardware, multiple crash issues (I was not one of those that crashed though), hacked accounts and servers, promised mod support, and constant "we are listening" notes dropped by community managers that show up and disappear.

Seriously, I have never heard so much griefing about Battlefield compared to other titles. COD? Quake? Team Fortress? You don't hear about it because their products are much more solid.

People have standards now set from someone like ID software, whom gave out the sourcecode for their titles. Or Valve that have auto-updating features that allow them to rollback quickly. There is a level craftsmanship and support that even this younger generation expect too.

So tell me, what do you mean about all those pricks on this forum that should be grateful for spending their money on software and hardware and expect it to work out of the box? These are not just $50 games we are talking about. When all is said and done, these games really cost $1500 when you factor in the cost of the hardware and maybe even internet/power. If it was not for something like BF2, I would have a basic computer. Instead I have a machine ready to render AutoCAD when I only really only need spreadsheets and web browsing if it were not for the occasional game title.

Hacks, J10 balance and new map. Isn't that about it?

100 fixes still cant make up for the fact that its been 2.3 years since the last BF2 patch and it could be another 6 months before the patch even comes out. So until then im still gonna say f u to EA :)

Why? EA/DICE has no obligation to keep the game patched.

Well, they did announce this patch a long time ago and said that they would like to still support BF2.

Nor do people have obligation to keep buying crap made by EA/Dice, this is the sole reason why these patches exist(?). For me, this update hell that BF2 has gone through over the years has been one of a kind.

I mean, look at Blizzard and Diablo 2. Last update was from last year, the game was released in 2000. Why do you think they keep updating, making the game better with more content? Guess they are suckers for keeping people happy playing their games.

Don't like the devs, don't buy the games. Yay capitalism.
