Development studio, Crystal Dynamics, is running a little leaner this week after the company laid off 30 employees.

This announcement came just a week after the company revealed sales that were much lower than expected for their latest offering, Tomb Raider: Underworld. Even more interesting is the fact that the company will now focus solely on developing the Tomb Raider franchise.
Crystal Dynamics has also worked on the Legacy of Kain titles, the Gex series, and many more. It should also be noted that DLC will be made available on January 21 for Tomb Raider: Underworld.
The "Expansion Token Pack" will retail in stores for $19.99 and come with two token cards. These cards will allow the purchaser to download the content through Xbox Live. It is also expected that the content will be made available for 1600MS points on that day though Xbox Live. "Beneath the Ashes" and "Lara's Shadow" are the two packs included in this bundle.

When asked what the reason for the layoffs were, a company spokesperson said, "We have increased the focus on the Tomb Raider franchise at Crystal Dynamics, regrettably this has resulted in the reduction in headcount."
