Out of all the things the people can point out wrong in the game, they put the Elevator glitch from castle, thats just plain laughable. Lets not mention the invisible walls, corrupt ranking (PC), poor texture quality, and more.

Hello, I am writing because I don't think anyone is address this problem, (or at least I cannot find anyone and I have searched). I am running Windows XP Professional x64 bit OS and just as soon as I finished installing the CoD WaW 1.2 Patch, the sound did not come back for my computer after rebooting and now I have no sound what-so-ever. Not only for my game, but for my ENTIRE system. I wish you would please help me with this, because I have spent good money on this game and I can't play it effectively, or anything else now. My e-mail address is: philip_williams@comcast.net, please help or post something because I am desperate to get this fixed. Thank You and I hope to hear from you soon.

there was a sound problem on vista too with patch 1.2 but it was easily fixable, i don't know if it will be the same though :/

ps. does anybody know if patch 1.3 fixed that?

Yeah, it was. I dont have Vista so I dont know how well it did. I havent seen anyone complaining about it though, so it must have worked.

Sound doesn't work for the whole system? You may have it muted/disabled - go into Sounds...

Start > Control Panel > Sound

(not sure if that is correct, but you'll find some sort of Sound settings in Control Panel, I'm on Vista so the names will be a little different)

Then once you have the Sound popup thing, you should have 3 tabs > one for Playback, one for Recording and one for Sounds

Check the Playback tab, and make sure you have Speakers selected as the Default playback device.

Right click > configure speakers > then run the test to see if you can hear the sounds now.

If not, click Properties > Then you'll have 4 tabs: General, Levels, Enhancements, Advanced.

On the General tab, make sure "Device Usage" is set to "Use this Device (enabled)

Click on Levels tab - then make sure you have the volume set high, check Front Panel Pink In/Line In etc. - just put everything on at least 40 or so...

Then go to advanced > Default Format > select 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) and click Test.

Sound should be working now, if not, then I'll probably need more information - like what sound card you have etc.

Re: Treyarch's List of Known Issues for CoD:WaW

Yes, the whole system. No it is not muted. It happened right after I installed the 1.2. patch, I have also installed the 1.2-1.3 patch and no sound from anything. I have tried switching from the 16 bit to the 24 bit(or is it vice versa?)fix for Vista, still no help. I can hear my speakers when I touch the jack to the outside metal of the jack, but that is it. I don't think these people who are on the site working bother with windows xp much so I am thinking that I am just screwed. Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate the depth of detail that you have shared with me. I will try your suggestions and see what happens. Whatever happens, thank you for your help! Have a great day! Man, I really liked playing that game.

It'll work just fine, I just need to find out the exact problem - but Sounds work fine in XP 64 bit, otherwise we'd have loads of people complaining that they're sound don't work... however since you're the only one it's got to be a small error with a simple solution.

                            I wrote this yesterday:
"Hello, I am writing because I don't think anyone is address this problem, (or at least I cannot find anyone and I have searched). Today, I am writing because I learned last evening after I had posted this that after I updated my Sound Blaster X-Fi with an updated driver and made sure I had installed the 1.2-1.3 patch first which I had. This also led to me generally updating my system. This not only brought my sound back to my system, but it also aided in some way to give the game a little more enhancement, it played great. I am not saying this is a fix for everyone, it helped me, and maybe it will help someone else as well. Take Care All, God Bless!
