Call of Duty: World At War DLC Will Be Unusual

According to a new article posted today over on MTV Multiplayer, the DLC for Call of Duty: World at War will be released in 2009 and will be a bit unusual. Here's what they had to say:
Get ready for a twist, “Call of Duty” fans. Even though the new “Call of Duty: World At War” is succeeding with consumers and critics by sticking to the successful adrenaline-fueled formula of its franchise predecessor, new downloadable content coming to the game in 2009 will represent a break from 2007’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.” How much of a break from the “Modern Warfare” DLC will it be?

In a phone interview with MTV Multiplayer just before Thanksgiving, “World at War” executive producer Daniel Suarez confirmed that the game’s development team is working on downloadable content that will exceed the single multi-player map-pack offered for “Modern Warfare” earlier this year. “We want to do at least — the hope is — potentially two, maybe three packs out before we’re all said and done.”

Suarez said announcements of the downloadable content would be coming at the beginning of the New Year. While he declined to provide a release schedule, he offered this surprise: “It’s not going to be what we’ve done traditionally. I’ll leave it a little bit mysterious.”

Great tactic to make consolers pay even more for this already fairly overpriced game.

I wouldn't say the game is overpriced...

Hmm, I wonder what the new content will be? More challenges, higher ranks, something along those lines b/c as with World of Warcraft, people love to keep ranking up and unlocking stuff, and it has become that way with this game. Maybe CoD:UO maps converted over? :yay: More zombie maps, D-day with zombies anyone? That would OWN!

              Overpriced? I think not. :p

Just hoping this DLC will be available for the PC too.

I'm not spending another cent on this unfinished on release game from a company that puts 360 user above us and don't release the beta earlier for us.
Pc users have the widest hardware and compatibility issues, does it make sense to release that beta last??
Not giving NOOBISH treyarch nothing else. will be using bittorent for all the map packs. that'll teach them to store data on users pc's so it can be easily hacked.

Soooo...... What you are saying is that the game is so bad that you want to steal more of it? :silly:

                      1) No one said yet if it would cost for the DLC on any system, or for the PC for that matter.
                      2) A lot of mp issues got solved with people just playing the Xbox beta which helped gamers on all the platforms. Also, I thought the two weeks we had for a FREE beta was good enough b/c I then wanted the full game anyway. And check your numbers sir, CoD for the Xbox 360 outsells the PC a kajillion to one, at least for CoD4. Their biggest amount of sales is easily from the Xbox. Times have changed, but even with their more sales, we've gotten/will get stuff console gamers don't get with their game.
                      3) B/c we have the widest variety of hardware is also the reason we probably DIDN'T get the beta first. Which is easier to release a beta for and get consistent results? From a pc base where who the heck knows what is going on in each pc? Or from a console system which is the same for each user, allowing the problems to be focused on the game instead of the hardware?
                      4) Treyarch, noobish, well, you have your opinions.
                      5) If the map packs are free, then a bit torrent would be no different than downloading the map pack elsewhere. If the map packs costs money, let's just publicly announce we're stealing... LoL Vreki, true, why steal something you don't even like...
                      6) You bet...they're going to cry to mommy b/c you taught them a lesson for putting user's data on the pc itself. Good one! You got 'em!
                      7) Putting this point just to write that wow, I had to make 6 points to show the truth b/c of the amount of fallacies you had in your short post, sigh.

                      :weo:

I dont care what it will be, just bring it.

And if it's more ranks, and more SP missions aswell as MP maps, even better. :)

                        Bring it on!
